  2. Christine Lagarde has signalled that interest rates in the eurozone will have to rise towards record highs to stop the economy from overheating as she warned that the fight against inflation was far from over.

The president of the European Central Bank (ECB) warned policymakers had “more ground to cover” to keep a lid on price rises, which rose at an annual pace of 7pc in the year to April.

“We are not pausing, that is very clear,” she told reporters after the ECB lifted all three of its key interest rates by 0.25 percentage points, taking the deposit rate to a 15-year high of 3.25pc.

  3. A Mississauga man building tiny homes has been charged for allegedly defrauding buyers up to hundreds of thousands of dollars after not delivering the houses they paid for.

Halton Regional Police said they received reports of potential homebuyers who made down payments to Oakville-based Little Creek Homes but never got the house they were promised.

Some of the victims, police said, even paid in full.

They began an investigation and identified several victims who reside across Ontario and learned that some had lost more than $200,000.

As a result, the company’s owner, 58-year-old Philip Bradley, was arrested on Wednesday. He has been charged with nine counts of fraud over $5,000.

According to the company’s website, it provides “moveable luxury home solutions.”

Investigators believe there may be additional victims.

Tiny homes are cute, but spending that kind of money on one is insane.

Perhaps my ability to nail a couple of boards together is so unique that it clouds my judgement, but I don’t think so.
