If You Lower The Price Enough, There Will Be Buyers
A report from CNN. “President-elect Donald Trump’s return to the White House already carried the potential for sweeping changes to the Federal Reserve. But now a growing question is not how the central bank will operate under Trump but if it’ll continue to operate at all. Elon Musk, a key Trump backer who is expected to have considerable sway in helping shape Trump’s policies, included a ‘100’ emoji while resharing Republican Sen. Mike Lee of Utah’s post on X calling for abolishing the Fed. ‘The Executive Branch should be under the direction of the president,’ Lee said Thursday in a post on X, hours after Fed Chair Jerome Powell told reporters he wouldn’t resign if Trump asked him to. ‘The Federal Reserve is one of many examples of how we’ve deviated from the Constitution in that regard,’ Lee added. ‘Yet another reason why we should #EndTheFed.'”
“Asked where Trump stands on the matter, Trump-Vance transition spokesperson Karoline Leavitt told CNN: ‘Policy should only be deemed official if it comes from President Trump directly.’ Calls to abolish the Fed are hardly new. Former congressman Ron Paul, who ran for president once as a Libertarian and twice as a Republican, published a book in 2009 titled ‘End the Fed.’ Then in June, Republican Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky and Lee introduced corresponding bills aimed at uprooting the nation’s central bank and shifting its responsibilities to the Treasury Department.”
The Union Tribune in California. “In San Diego County, 35% of homes were valued at $1 million or more in 2023, said a new study from LendingTree. That was up from 23% in 2022. The San Diego metro area now ranks fourth in the nation for the most million-dollar homes, ahead of Boston, New York, Washington, D.C., Miami and others. The metro with the most million-dollar-plus homes was San Jose at 71.6%. It was followed by San Francisco (56.6%) and Los Angeles and Orange counties (36.4%). Jacob Channel, senior economist at LendingTree said a $1 million house might still sound like a mansion in one’s mind, but that the reality is — in places like San Diego — it is closer to a middle-class property. ‘One million dollar homes are becoming more common, especially in places like San Diego,’ he said. ‘For lack of a better term, they are becoming less luxurious. Even 20 years ago, even in San Diego, $1 million probably would have bought you a pretty nice place.'”
San Diego Reader in California. “The notices to vacate keep coming for tenants of Hawaiian Gardens and Sussex Gardens, neighboring apartment groups on Imperial Beach Boulevard. Over 100 low-income, elderly and disabled tenants are facing eviction, and many showed up at last week’s city council meeting, pleading for help. ‘We almost have to stop eating, to pay rent,’ said Maria Cerda, a senior who struggles to afford her unit. ‘A few years ago a two-bedroom apartment was about $2,000. Now, I just went to see one, and it’s $2,800.'”
The Denver Post in Colorado. “A 50-unit multifamily affordable housing property in the heart of Littleton is up for auction. Littleton Main Street LLC, the complex’s owner, and Terra Management Group LLC, the property management company, have both filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, according to bankruptcy court case documents. Bids for the apartments, 2350 W. Main St., will be taken until Nov. 15, with the minimum bid being $6.2 million. The property’s units operate under Section 42 Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program.”
Fox 4 in Texas. “A Dallas real estate developer who bribed two city officials pleaded guilty on Tuesday. Sherman Roberts, the former head of City Wide Community Development Corporation, paid thousands of dollars to Mayor Pro Tem Dwaine Caraway and city council member Carolyn Davis, according to court documents. In exchange, Caraway and Davis would support loans and low income housing tax credits for Roberts’ affordable housing projects in 2015. Caraway was paid several hundred dollars in cash and a monthly stipend to stop the city from seeking other bids for the project and deliver it to Roberts. ‘Once you’re successful with this project, don’t forget about me,’ Caraway told Roberts. ‘I won’t forget about you,’ Mr. Roberts replied. ‘That’s where the money is… the money has never been an issue.'”
The Independent. “The wife of an indicted celebrity house flipper with close ties to a popular radio personality is facing federal charges onaccusations she destroyed incriminating evidence by smashing her cell phone to bits with a hammer as the FBI waited outside her front door to seize it. Jennifer Iturralde Pina, whose husband, Cesar Humberto ‘Flipping NJ’ Pina is fighting wire fraud charges over what prosecutors described as a years-long Ponzi scheme that bilked dozens of investors out of millions, was hit with one count of destruction of records in a federal investigation, according to a criminal complaint unsealed Tuesday and obtained by The Independent. It says Iturralde, 42, knew the feds were about to search the Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, home she and Pina share, and laid waste to the device moments before agents were able to get to it.”
“Cesar Pina reportedly first became interested in real estate in 2005, while serving an 18-month prison sentence for credit card fraud and drug-related crimes. He was promoted heavily by DJ Envy, born RaaShaun Casey, on his Power 105.1 FM morning show, The Breakfast Club, as a real estate wizard. Envy — who has not been charged with a crime, and was reportedly himself taken for $500,000 — traveled the nation with Pina holding real estate seminars promising returns of up to 45 percent within five months. ‘We’re talking about generational wealth,’ Envy said in a 2021 video he and Pina posted on Facebook. ‘When this is all said and done, and I pass away and he passes away, our kids will get that money.'”
KSL in Utah. “A 3rd District judge has denied a repeated request for bail from a Kamas mother accused of killing her husband .Judge Richard Mrazik did, however, separate four charges related to mortgage fraud that allegedly occurred in 2021, ruling that they should be presented as part of a separate trial, as Kouri Richins’ attorneys requested, to keep the trial fair and not prejudice the jury. Deputy Salt Lake County attorney Bradley Bloodworth said prosecutors only charged Richins with mortgage fraud that was ‘easy to prove on paper’ to not distract from the trial, but they could have charged ‘many more crimes’ between the 2021 mortgage fraud charges and the murder charge. He said forging bank statements is evidence that Richins knew she was out of money.”
WPBF in Florida. “A Jupiter man is behind bars after being accused of mortgage loan fraud. Troy M. McKenna, 34, was arrested Thursday and charged with fraudulent use of personal identification information and mortgage fraud. A report from the Palm Beach Gardens Police Department alleges that McKenna secured a $1.5 million mortgage loan under the name of his ex-fiancée on Dec. 6, 2023. The report notes that the victim told law enforcement that she did not give permission to McKenna to open the loan with her name.”
“According to the report, the victim said that McKenna used a property that was owned by both the victim and McKenna as collateral to obtain the mortgage loan. During law enforcement’s investigation, it was determined that McKenna was the only person who signed the notarized document for the loan, but the victim’s signature was used in other parts of the loan documents. It was also discovered that the mortgage document was altered in the notarized section to remove the victim’s name and added McKenna’s name and signature instead. It is believed the notarized section was altered to make it appear that two individuals signed the notarized document.”
From WTKR. “For many families, paying one mortgage is difficult enough. So, imagine if you got a notice one day that said there was a second one in your name and if you did not pay tens of thousands of dollars immediately, the bank was going to take your home. That is what happened to one family in Virginia Beach. Now, they’re going through litigation to keep their home and warn others about so-called ‘zombie mortgages.’ To understand the situation the family is in, I need to take you back to the early 2000s. During this time, people were taking out second mortgages on their home. Interest rates were low, and they could use the second mortgage as a line of credit. The first mortgage would cover most of the debt, and the second mortgage would cover the remaining 20%. However, when the market crashed home values went down, and people could not pay.”
“According to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, if you default on a second mortgage your home can be foreclosed on even if you are current on the first mortgage. ‘Sometimes there’s situations where folks think that the mortgage, or a loan, is discharged for whatever reason, but then later they come to find out that’s not true. That’s why they’re commonly referred to as zombie mortgages. They kind of like come back to life, if you will,’ says Brandon Ballard, a strategic litigation attorney at the Legal Aid Society of Eastern Virginia. Ballard says that is what happened to the Virginia Beach family he’s representing. They did not want to go on camera but told me they were notified unexpectedly that their home was being foreclosed on.”
Canadian Mortgage Trends. “While plenty of consumers believe the Bank of Canada’s steady interest rate cuts will drop mortgage rates meaningfully across the board, economist Don Drummond isn’t so sure that prediction applies to fixed rate mortgages. Drummond, a former TD economist who has advised Canadian Prime Ministers, believes the ultra-low rates of the last decade were an aberration. Drummond argues that Canada’s ultra-low interest rates from 2011 to 2019 did more harm than good. Intended as economic relief after the Financial Crisis, the prolonged low rates contributed to ballooning house prices, making homes less affordable even as mortgages became cheaper. ‘You had a rock-bottom interest rate, but you had to buy a million-dollar house,’ he told the audience. ‘How does that help anybody?'”
ABC News in Australia. “NSW Housing Minister Rose Jackson has suggested it is possible to rent a two-bedroom apartment in Sydney for ‘a couple of hundred bucks’ a week. During an interview on Tuesday morning about rental and housing affordability on ABC Radio Sydney, Ms Jackson was put on the spot by a question about rent prices. Presenter Hamish Macdonald asked: ‘What do you reckon is a reasonable price to pay in rent for a two-bedroom flat in Sydney?’ Ms Jackson said it depended on where in Sydney before appearing to guess the answer. ‘Sydney’s a big city, you know, I mean, a couple of hundred bucks right?’ she said. Asked where in Sydney it was possible to find a two-bedroom property for that much, Ms Jackson said: ‘There are places in Sydney you can.'”
“The median rental price for a unit in Sydney was $720 a week, according to the latest Domain data, a reduction from $750 a week in the June quarter. Later in the interview, Ms Jackson said she did not mean $200, saying ‘don’t put words in my mouth.’ Ms Jackson’s main focus is increasing social housing as Housing and Homelessness Minister, but she is involved in policy to address the broader rental and housing crisis and regularly comments on the issue. ABC Radio Sydney listeners were quick to point out Ms Jackson’s unrealistic estimate of rental prices saying ‘she has got no idea’ and was ‘living in an alternate reality.'”
From Voxy. “New Zealand’s property market remains subdued, with a rising share of sellers incurring losses amid higher listing volumes, falling house prices, and persistent economic challenges. The proportion of loss-making resales climbed to 9.8% in the September quarter, the highest level since Q2 2015, up from 8.2% in the previous quarter. The proportion of investors selling for a loss climbed to 11.1% in Q3, up from 8.5% in Q2 and the highest level in a decade. In comparison, owner-occupier loss-making resales rose to 8.8%, highlighting a slightly widening gap between the two groups.”
“‘Investors appear to be feeling the pinch a little more acutely, likely driven by cashflow challenges and possibly a reduced appetite to sustain loss-making properties,’ CoreLogic NZ Chief Property Economist Kelvin Davidson said. ‘While we’re not seeing a widespread exit from the market, the rise in investor losses suggests cash flow may be an issue for multiple property owners and some may be opting to cut their losses rather than continue to subsidise underperforming assets, particularly with still elevated mortgage rates.'”
New York Times. “One by one, tycoons who built their wealth on China’s economic rise have been giving up their trophy homes in Hong Kong. Two apartments in a Frank Gehry glass-and-steel tower that twists out of the mountainside. Three European-style mansions with turrets and swimming pools. Four white villas sitting in a row. All but two of the properties have already been sold for tens of millions of US dollars each. And while it might be hard to believe, each one was a steal – snatched up for discounts of one-third to more than half of the previous values.”
“Now, many of the same people who contributed to the housing market’s inequities, from the builders to the wealthy speculators, have found themselves being forced to sell their prized homes fast. Their riches had swelled with an unfathomable rise in China’s real estate market, and its collapse and aftermath have left many short on cash. ‘Everyone is asking for money,’ said Joseph Tang, the chair of real estate firm JLL in Hong Kong. Businesses are under pressure as the economy continues to slow, the broader property market is under strain and the cost of borrowing has climbed steeply. ‘The only thing that is sellable is residential property because, if you lower the price enough, there will be buyers,’ Tang said.”
“Most notable among them is Hui Ka Yan of the one-time property giant China Evergrande. Creditors seized his European-style homes, which were collectively worth more than US$190 million, after the company collapsed. One of them sold this year for US$58 million, less than half of the US$130 million that a company tied to Evergrande and Hui had paid for it in 2009, according to the global real estate firm Knight Frank.”

We will not have sound money, honest markets, or a future for our children as long as the criminal private banking cartel known as the Fed controls our money issuance.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lK_rYS8L3kI
I’m not happy with how generous the Fed has been the last 15 years….but if a politician has their way, it will be: drop those dates to zero!!! Build build build! And we will be worse off. Money is a funny thing….it makes most people make bad decisions. I want the Fed to raise rates now lower. Or at least keep them where they are.
This is my concern, too.
“I want the Fed to raise rates”
+1
+1 Rates need to acknowledge risk, not fed guarantees.
drop those dates to zero!!! Build build build! And we will be worse off.
And borrow borrow borrow. I fear more $2T deficits to try and keep everyone “placated.”
WHAT IS THE FED?
The Federal Reserve, “the Fed”, is the central bank of the United States of America that was created in 1913 by Congress. It is a banking cartel that has a government-granted monopoly on the creation of money and credit. The Fed literally loans “money” (Federal Reserve Notes) into existence. Federal Reserve Notes are paper promises backed by nothing of intrinsic value and they are only functioning as money because the government forces them on the public through legal tender laws. Federal Reserve Notes are referred to as dollars but are not. The definition of a dollar is a weight of silver (371 grains). To put it simply, the Fed is a group of banks running a national criminal counterfeiting racket with the protection of the government.

A lot of those Federal agencies were created by Acts of Congress, including the Fed. Elon and Vivek can’t just get rid of them, or even combine then, without rewriting and/or appealing multiple laws. They might be able to reduce the staff to a skeleton crew. But they won’t get too far without involving Congress.
This morning, an acquaintance of mine had a “friendly discussion” about whose job was in more danger. I’m fed in a tech position; he’s on the contracting side with similar tech. Neither of us are terribly worried.
Elon and Vivek can’t
“[T]he Department of Government Efficiency will provide advice and guidance from outside of Government, and will partner with the White House and Office of Management & Budget . . . .”
No authority. Strictly advisory.
Feeling better?
Almost. My son finally got it and recovered in less than 24 hours.
Glad you’re on the mend.
No, Elon and Vivek are going to just advisors, so they have no teeth. However, even if they gave a recommendation to DJT to axe whole agencies which were created by a law passed by Congress, OMB won’t be able to do it. That would be usurping the power of the Legislative branch. Even cutting funding for an agency has to be done through Congress.
Many different ways to skin a cat.
has to be done through Congress
Precisely.
I suspect Elon’s plan to publicize the horrible waste they find with transparency will have a very positive effect on results, regardless of teeth. Darkness hates light.
The billionaire owners of the garbage legacy media are belatedly realizing that the only chance they have of curbing their papers’ death spiral is to jettison the mendacious Real Journalists and far-left editorial boards that have turned newspapers and periodicals into globalist propaganda outlets. Good luck fending for yourself in the real economy, DNC shills!

Ok, so Rachel Maddow gets 30 million a year for basically doing one hour a week. She was the person that told the public to take the shot, you won’t get Covid, it stops there. She isn’t a doctor, she didn’t advise on possible side effects as Pharmacy commercials are required to do.
Biden spent tax funds of a billion dollars to defraud the public and cheerleader the notion of “safe and effective”, you won’t get Covid, its a disease of the unvaccinated.” Again no disclosure of possible side effects, as is required on a Pharmaceutical commercial.
So, than this was expanded to vaccine mandates, you loose your job , enforced in large part by Corporate America. Than High Court ruled Corporate Monopolies didn’t have right under OSHA to enforce such mandates.
So, anybody that was fired by a Big Monopoly Corporation , or was damaged or died by their illegal Mandates has been damaged.
Ignorance of the Law, or asserting a right under OSHA that had never been established doesn’t excuse legal liability .
Just saying

The environment of pervasive corruption and impunity that enabled these Democrat “affordable housing” patronage and graft rackets to go on fleecing taxpayers and enriching Democrat apparatchiks & their cronies might be coming to an end. The political tide has shifted decisively against the commies and their fraud, waste, and abuse, and the day might be approaching where such scams have criminal consequences for the parties involved.
There’s nothing Democrat about the low income housing tax credit scam. I’d bet there’s at least one in every county in the US. I’ve never heard Republicans say boo about it. I’ve covered this issue at length previously and won’t dig that up. But the short story is this: only rich people can play this game cuz it benefits only those with big incomes to take the credit against. It drives rents up in a multitude of ways, notably a ‘formula’ that allows them to play games with ‘percentage of average incomes’ crap. If they can qualify using that they can get a tax credit for raising rents!
And the whole thing is susceptible to fraud as the Dallas bribery case above shows.
Establishment GOP RINOs are the controlled opposition. I consider all uniparty members to be de facto Democrats, since they’ve all accepted their 30 pieces of silver from The Cabal and are cravenly subservient to its agenda and swindles against We the People.

The 2020 election was stolen.
The disappearance of 15 million D voters in 2024 is quite a mystery, thinly disguised. Maybe once failing globalist scum media outlets bilge their DNC cheerleaders & hire actual investigative reporters, we might get to the bottom of this story. I don’t think 15 million fully vaxxed & boosted D-voters “died suddenly,” though I wouldn’t mourn them if this was the case.
“The disappearance of 15 million D voters in 2024…”
This will be huge once it gains traction. There’s no perjury consequences that compare with the Inspector General. The small players will be singing like Larks when faced with 5-yrs polishing bananas in the United States Penitentiary, Terre Haute, Indiana.
It’s pretty funny that now it’s the libs who are questioning where the 15 million votes went. They seriously believe that DJT stole them.
The missing votes are less than 15 million. Pollster Rich Barris estimated that 1/3 of the 15-20 million votes truly was people who sat out 2024. Another 4-5 million were Special K votes in California that hadn’t been reported yet. Probably a couple more million people straight up died in the past four years. That leaves, I dunno, 4-5 million magical poof votes from 2020 that . But that’s enough, especially if focused in swing states.
Not the conclusion that one would draw from looking at the graphs.

They are such BS. I think officially eggs are up like 40% since 2020. In Jan of 2021 I was buying store brand 18pack eggs for under $2. (at the local expensive store, so certainly cheaper at WM)
Yesterday at WalMart an 18 pack of store brand eggs was $5.08
that’s more than double. 40% my a$$
I agree, but egg prices seem to be not such a good indicator of the value of a dollar. They fell by 50% last year, and are now going up again. I didn’t think my dollars doubled in value.
There’s the Big Mac Index.

The Housing Market Is a Bubble Full of Fraud, and It’s Going To Pop
Editor’s Note: It’s Member Week at Strong Towns, and our theme this fall is “this movement needs you.” For those of us here who work on content production, we feel that message acutely, because the stories that we get to share wouldn’t be possible without the work and the support of advocates just like you! To celebrate, we’re sharing some of the articles that have resonated the most with our readers this year and in years past. If this is your first time reading this piece, we hope you enjoy, and consider becoming a member if you haven’t already!
The U.S. is in a massive housing bubble. Prices are artificially high due primarily to the downstream effects of financialization. Localized supply and demand dynamics — which today are also downstream of financialization — are a mess. Decades of housing subsidies, down payment assistance, artificially low interest rates, money printing and endless bank support have turned the American home into a financial product first and a place of shelter second. The extent of the distortion is unprecedented, something covered in “Escaping the Housing Trap: The Strong Towns Response to the Housing Crisis.”
What fascinates me more than another obvious bubble — I’m old enough to have been here before — is the way people talk about it. Everyone, from investors to NIMBYs to YIMBYs to my neighbor up the street, has an oversimplified belief about home prices, one fully supported by their take on the data. As a student of Daniel Kahneman’s “Thinking, Fast and Slow,” it’s easy to recognize the motivated reasoning.

I left the “Communist Party” there because there wasn’t a suitable substitute. The article was titled “The Folly of China’s Real-Estate Boom Was Easy to See, but No One Wanted to Stop It.” In the excerpt, I merely changed “China” to “America” and it reads just fine.
Indeed. The holes in the proverbial Swiss cheese are beginning to line-up. Brace for impact!!

“If You Lower The Price Enough, There Will Be Buyers”
A big builder just had a blowout last weekend in our hood. After weeks of almost nothin sales, they knocked it out of the park over three days. The trick? Some serious slashing! I’m gonna have to wait for the recorded sales data but according to my guy it was significant with a lot of extras and incentives on top of that. I can’t wait to see how much. Like always, the big builders will lead the way down.
As was apparent, Corporate Monopolies , Media , Health Agencies , Biden/Harris Administration ,etc. co partnered with WHO and US Government and other governments to pull off the biggest scam in History on the Covid 19 panademic. The Cares Act paid Corporate America , while small business was destroyed.
WHO , went to ground zero China , where they had extreme lock downs near lab leak. , in which China claimed they stopped the panademic .Than lockdowns quickly became the model by WHO for the response to Covid, along with masks and social isolation.
So, China went back into production mode and the cameras went off them. Fast forward over 2 years and the cameras went back on them again when they imposed their lock downs again in major Cities for zero covid policy, that ended up being rebelled against by their people, and cameras went off China again.
So, China had one of lowest death rates from Covid in spite of having huge populations and was ground zero for Covid leak.
China never used the MRNA Western expiermental vaccine, and never got the massive death and injury that happened in the Western World.
But, China was producing the masks for world, as well as a billion of the Western Shots, they wouldn’t take themselves.
China Students in US were excluded from taking vaccine, illegals crossing border, post office employees, Congress/Senate/Executive branch, etc.
Media and Social Media conspired with Biden/Harris Administration to censor free speech and any dispute to the lock downs, masks , and fake expiermental vaccines .
So, the fake vaccines are still on the market with them expanding the failed technology to even more products.
While Big Pharmacy is immune from liabilty on vaccines, at least one Court has rules the clot shot isn’t a vaccine.
I think Big pharmacy and their Corporate, Media and government parties in collusion had a objective of forcing at least 5 boosters shots a year on adult populations as well as in child vaccine schedule. A vaccine passport would of been implemented, along with mandated vaccines. They were on there way to deny groceries, high fines, med services denied and talk about taking the unvaccinated to camps, when at that point push back occurred. But, it shows you how far they were going to go with this.
So, gain of function virus bio weapons have not been banned, or killer fake vaccines taken off market. So, the World awaits the next disease x Panademic , people like Bill Gates say is coming, but will be more lethal than Covid.
Will it be bird flu, monkey pox, or some other invisible pathogen that is more lethal, as is predicted by the psychics of future events?
So far, in spite of them trying to get a global panademic going again , it hasn’t happened yet.
And , the other warfare of Climate Change , with these solutions of ” zero co2 “fraud, is just as fraudulent as the Covid 19 pandemic counter measures, but that is being implemented.
And free speech has to be preserved along with the
accountability on any of the fraud regarding Science, in regards to the Global Emergencies that have become weapons of anti humanity warfare.
” had a objective of forcing at least 5 boosters shots a year on adult populations as well as in child vaccine schedule. A vaccine passport would of been implemented, along with mandated vaccines.”
Yes, they would have. But such controls would have taken more time to implement. We were very lucky that Delta mutated into Omicron. Omicron was less severe and extremely contagious, resulting in a massive spike of non-lethal cases. By the time the globalists would have had the controls ready, everybody had gotten Omicron, and people were already out the hospital. With no more burden on hospitals, there was no more justification for control measures.

Credit card balances rose by $24 billion in the third quarter of 2024 and are 8.1% higher than a year ago.
In the last three months, 42% of Americans said their total debt hasn’t changed, while 28% of have seen their debt rise, according to another survey by Achieve, which helps consumers manage debt.
Of the latter group, most said the increase was due to the ongoing difficulty of making ends meet. Others cited general overspending and a lost job or reduced wages.”

Ontario Premier calls Mexico a ‘backdoor’ for cheap Chinese imports
Ontario Premier Doug Ford has weighed in as trade talks loom with the new Trump administration in Washington, accusing Mexico of being a back door for cheap Chinese imports and even calling on Canada to seek its own exclusive two-way deal with the United States.
With U.S. president-elect Donald Trump promising to reopen the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USCMA) when it is up for review in 2026, Mr. Ford called on Mexico to match Canadian and U.S. tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles, steel and aluminum – or be stripped of its tariff-free access to rest of the North American market.
Mexico has “allowed itself to become a backdoor for Chinese cars, auto parts and other products into Canadian and American markets,” Mr. Ford claimed in a statement on Tuesday, adding that the country “shouldn’t have a seat at the table or enjoy access to the largest economy in the world” if it doesn’t follow its northern neighbours on efforts to exclude Chinese goods.
“Instead, we must prioritize the closest economic partnership on Earth by directly negotiating a bilateral U.S.-Canada free trade agreement that puts U.S. and Canadian workers first,” the Premier’s statement reads.
Mr. Ford’s message echoes a key complaint that Mr. Trump aired on the campaign trail, and seems aimed at aligning Ontario with the new U.S. administration in the hope of avoiding tariffs the incoming president has threatened to put on all imports to the U.S.
American policy makers in both parties have become increasingly concerned about investment by Chinese automakers in Mexico, given that country’s tariff-free access to the United States.
This is an extension of U.S. fears about competition from Chinese companies, such as BYD and Geely, which are producing high-quality electric vehicles at a fraction of the price of U.S., European and other Asian carmakers. Western policy makers complain that China has gained an edge in EV manufacturing because of extensive state subsidies.

4 in 5 new food bank clients in Toronto are newcomers to Canada, new report finds
As it has annually since the pandemic, the number of people visiting Toronto food banks for the first time soared again over the last year, and newcomers to Canada are among the largest cohort of new users.
According to the Daily Bread and North York Harvest food bank’s Who’s Hungry Report 2024 – compiled using data from almost 1,400 users and 67 community sites, along with independent research and analysis – 154,700 new clients availed of their services between April 1, 2023, and March 31, 2024.
“This is an astonishing 222 per cent increase in new food bank clients compared to just two years ago,” the report reads, noting that the figures are an underestimate as they don’t include data from anonymous visits.
Overall, the facilities had a record-breaking 3.48 million visitors over the year, one million more than the previous and almost four times as many recorded before COVID-19.
The report notes it took 38 years to surpass the one-million visit mark, two years to pass the two-million and just a year to hit three million.
“Based on our projections and the worsening level of poverty in our communities, we expect to exceed four million visits by this time next year.”
Data also indicated that 4 in 5 of the new users are people who have called Canada home for five years or less and usage by refugee claimants also doubled to 12 per cent over the previous year, both of which, the report notes, align with permanent and temporary international migration fuelling 97.6 per cent of Canada’s population growth in 2023.
In the first year in which the food banks asked respondents about their student status, they learned that 42 per cent of new clients are students, more than half of whom (56 per cent) are new international students and the vast majority (93 per cent) are new to food banks.
For instance, surveying shows 83 per cent of international students and 85 per cent of students with refugee status reported not having enough food to eat compared to 71 per cent of Canadian students.

After Trump’s win, Canadian trade lawyers say clients brace for tariff fallout
The morning after the U.S. election, trade lawyer Martha Harrison’s phone rang.
It was a client – a large Canadian manufacturer that does the bulk of their business south of the border.
“Okay it’s happened,” the client said. “Now what?”
She and the client had been preparing for a second Trump presidency – and his vow to impose a universal tariff of 10 per cent to 20 per cent on imports to the U.S. – for months. But now that Donald Trump had actually won, it was time to put their contingency plans into action.
Similar conversations have been playing out in Bay Street law offices for the past week, as businesses brace themselves for a new era of U.S.-Canadian economic relations.
Ms. Harrison’s client, which makes product in Canada and then exports it to the United States to a commercial partner, will be significantly affected by any large tariffs. As a result, they have been exploring the possibility of opening a branch south of the border. This would allow them to sell product to their U.S. enterprise at a transfer price – below retail – and then use the U.S. enterprise to sell directly to American clients. However, setting up shop in the U.S. is a costly endeavour and it still wouldn’t shield them from tariffs entirely.
“It would still be the transfer price – and that price has to be acceptable with taxation authorities – plus 10 to 20 per cent, which is still a lot more than most profit margins can handle,” warned Ms. Harrison, a partner at McCarthy Tétrault LLP, who specializes in international trade and regulatory law.
Another big concern for clients, she said, are long-term contracts, in which a Canadian company has agreed to a fixed price for a good that could now face a 20-per-cent markup.
“At minimum, we expect a number of contract renegotiations and I also expect that there will be some cancellation in contracts. And probably the Canadian companies are going to be forced to look to alternative jurisdictions to sell product,” she said.

Boris Johnson says British troops may have to go to Ukraine if Trump cuts Kyiv’s aid
British troops may have to be deployed in Ukraine if American president-elect Donald Trump cuts Kyiv’s funding, Boris Johnson has warned.
The former prime minister said that if Russian president Vladimir Putin gains the upper hand in the conflict, the UK may have to deploy troops to defend Europe.

COP 29 in Baku begins amid ‘Trump dilemma’: India should tread carefully
The 29th Conference of the Parties on Climate Change (COP 29) began in Baku, Azerbaijan, and will carry on from November 11 to 22, 2024. After the inaugural, the next two days the world leaders will have the “Climate Action” summit.
Trump’s return to the US presidency has put questions on climate action. Trump is a known climate change denier who has promised to increase fossil fuel production and withdraw the US from the Paris climate deal, among other worrying pledges.
Trump’s position on climate change has been in the spotlight since he criticised “prophets of doom” at the World Economic Forum in Davos a few years ago. Trump had dismissed “alarmists” who wanted to “control every aspect of our lives”.

Trump is a known climate change denier
This labeling is used throughout media to conflate
(1) climate change (it is always changing and morphing) with
(2) the idea that mankind’s action is the big driver of change.
Only the media and liberal cohorts maintain that questioning #2 means you are questioning both. Decidedly poor logic but hey, it’s politics.
Wasn’t the US the top carbon reducer during Trump #1?
Bailing out China’s economy has suddenly become more urgent
Beijing is clearly rattled.
Within 48 hours of Donald Trump’s decisive victory in the US election, Chinese authorities last week, yet again, opted to break out the financial fire hose and spray around a little more cash.
Once again, it was deemed inadequate and left global investors underwhelmed.
The first stimulus round was unleashed in September, after years of bewildering inaction, in an effort to shore up a rapidly deteriorating economy that’s been hammered by a property downturn now entering its fifth year.
While the belated and piecemeal nature of the stimulus rollout has mystified many, some China watchers believe the strategy could come in handy in future as Beijing awaits the full blast of Trump’s trade war and adjusts its response accordingly.
If Donald Trump lives up to his word, China is expected to lose its World Trade Organisation ‘favoured nation status’ with the US, as a first step, before imposing tariffs on the country and then, possibly, the rest of the world.
According to analysts from investment bank UBS, the ‘China hit’ is expected to be rolled out gradually to avoid a one-off massive inflation hit on the US economy and to give American buyers the chance to source their needs elsewhere.
“We are assuming a 60 per cent tariff hike on about a quarter of US imports from China starting in September 2025, a 60 per cent hike on another quarter of products in January 2026 implemented in two stages with the remainder not facing additional tariffs,” they said in a note to clients this week.
But they admitted it was possible the hit could start sooner, possibly as early as the first quarter of next year.
But China is in the midst of a painful deceleration as it battles a construction slowdown and one of the biggest property crashes in history, which has hit consumer demand and sent the country into a deflationary spiral.

Chicago Mayor Gives Up On Property Tax Hike
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson is backing away from plans to help fill a $1B budget hole with a large property tax increase.
Johnson rolled out a $300M tax hike proposal late last month as part of his 2025 budget, saying the decision came down to “either mass layoffs, curbing vital city services or an increase in property taxes.”
But he reversed course Tuesday after learning that 29 aldermen had teamed up to call a Wednesday city council meeting in which the measure was likely to be defeated, The Chicago Tribune reported.
“The administration has accepted defeat on that one and now they are trying to regroup,” 9th Ward Alderman Anthony Beale told the Tribune.

Billionaire hedge-fund manager Ken Griffin is continuing to sever ties with Chicago.
Griffin has sold the top two floors of the condo tower No. 9 Walton for $19 million, according to property records. The deal represents a 44% loss for the Citadel founder, who paid more than $34 million for the two units in 2017, records show.
Griffin broke the record for a Chicago home sale that year when he paid $58.75 million for four units at the downtown building, making a deal with the developer to enlarge the penthouse. The spread was delivered as a shell so that Griffin could customize it, creating a trophy Chicago penthouse.
He also unloaded his unit at the Waldorf Astoria private residences for about $10.2 million, about $3 million less than he paid for it in 2014.

Texas A&M regents overrule faculty, cut 52 “low-producing” programs including LGBTQ+ studies minor
The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents on Thursday unanimously directed its flagship university to disband an LGBTQ+ studies minor, months after conservative lawmakers and websites accused the program of promoting “liberal indoctrination” on campus.
The LGBTQ Studies minor is one of 14 minors and 38 certificate programs that administrators said were “low-producing,” according to a new process developed administrators to identify and eliminate programs with low enrollments. But faculty argue the process used inaccurate information and faulty data. It also kept faculty from providing input about curriculum decisions, they said.
“This has never happened before,” said Angie Hill Price, a professor and speaker of A&M’s Faculty Senate. “We have no precedent for a board to decide [to end academic programs] over the wishes of faculty and the president which they deemed low-performing.”
Dozens of faculty attended the board meeting Thursday to oppose the regents’ decision.
According to a Texas A&M spokesperson, the university started receiving questions from inside and outside the university about the LGBTQ Studies minor the semester after it was launched, prompting the school to examine its programs. Administrators identified 70 certificates and minors that had zero or few graduates or enrollees.
In January, state Rep. Brian Harrison, R-Midlothian, started tweeting about the LGBTQ Studies minor offered at his alma mater. “Texas A&M is offering a MINOR in this?? What. The. Hell,” he wrote. He vowed to find out if the university was using state resources to finance the program.

Entire Publicly funded colleges need to be shut down. If there isn’t tech, engineering or science majors which require “active learning” via hands on learning shut down the whole college.
I know people going to LSU and ASU, theoretically their main branch, who will never touch foot on campus. One is a Digital marketing major, No need to touch foot on campus so why do we still have the satellite campus’ open. Shut em down and save State and Federal tax payers Billions.
I understand there are some value to college not related to jobs, but we don’t need all the excess campuses sitting around. Go to the 2 or 3 main college sites or go to a CC for the first 2 years then go online.

California Voters Opt for Orderly Urbanism on Election Day
The 2024 presidential election saw the country shift right. Donald Trump improved on his 2016 and 2020 performances almost everywhere. That rightward shift was most pronounced in urban areas with the highest cost of living.
Commenters, particularly conservative commenters, are already interpreting this as a referendum on the dismal results of big city liberal governments on basic issues of crime and affordability.
That result can be overinterpreted. Big cities are still overwhelming Democratic. Trump’s low baseline of support in these places makes his absolute gains more pronounced when measured as a percentage improvement on past performance.
At the same time, urban America’s rightward shift can also be underinterpreted if we just look at the presidential race. Where voters were able to vote specifically on progressive approaches to urban government, the election looks like even more of a red wave.
That’s certainly the story in California.
There, voters were asked to decide two ballot initiatives: one on whether to eliminate state guardrails on rent control; the other to roll back a previous initiative that lowered sentences for theft and drug offenses.
The first failed spectacularly. The second succeeded by an even larger margin.
Call it a win for orderly urbanism. Voters are sick of progressive solutions on housing and crime and opted for something different.

Bay Area voters move right in election, sending clear message on crime and homelessness
For decades, the Bay Area has been celebrated — and sometimes mocked — as a progressive beacon, a proud throwback to hippie-era values with its embrace of love and tolerance.
But on Nov. 5, voters across the region made it clear that there are limits to their compassion.
Motivated by pent-up frustrations with property crime and homelessness — and a sense that San Francisco and Oakland had lost control of city streets — Bay Area voters tacked right in last week’s election, ousting the mayors of both cities and rejecting a handful of left-wing candidates. And in a stunning rebuke to the progressive movement to reform criminal justice that the region once championed, a majority of voters in all nine Bay Area counties voted in favor of Proposition 36, a statewide ballot measure that will impose stricter penalties for repeated thefts and crimes involving fentanyl.
In San Francisco, Mayor London Breed lost her reelection bid to a political outsider: wealthy philanthropist and Levi’s heir Daniel Lurie, a fellow Democrat who promised to shut down open-air drug markets and make San Francisco less welcoming to street encampments.
In the East Bay, voters recalled Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao and Alameda County Dist. Atty. Pamela Price, two progressive leaders elected in 2022.
“People are tired of feeling like government is unable to solve the most difficult problems,” said Keally McBride, a politics professor at the University of San Francisco. “It really is more about frustration with dysfunction.”
“We are going to declare a fentanyl state of emergency on Day 1 of our administration,” Lurie pledged at a news conference Friday. “We are going to get tough on those that are dealing drugs. And we are going to be compassionate, but tough, about the conditions of our streets as well.”
Seneca Scott, spokesperson for the recall campaign against Thao, said the voter frustration rippling through the Bay Area should be seen as an indictment of local leaders who prioritize progressive politics over a well-functioning community.
“The progressives in Oakland did the same thing they did in San Francisco. They ignored the crime. They ignored the poverty,” Scott said. “They need to do some soul-searching.”

Progressives seek to push Democrats to the left after Trump’s resounding win
Progressives are urging Democrats to pursue a path forward that prioritizes America’s working-class population, the coalition that overwhelmingly rejected their party and supported President-elect Trump for a second term.
Leftists believe moderates have failed to uplift economically marginalized people, deviating from their decades-old mandate and leaving that group open to Republicans’ message.
Failing to keep the White House and Senate and reclaim the House, leaders on the left are emphasizing economic populism as the best way to recapture voters who flocked to Trump and broaden a party that has become increasingly detached from the plight of low-income people.
“Success runs directly through leading with economic issues,” said Pete D’Alessandro, a senior aide to Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) during his 2016 presidential campaign.
“This isn’t some abstract theory either. It’s what Dems do when they win,” D’Alessandro said. “You lead with economic populism and because you win, you can do the other things.”
One progressive strategist expressed optimism that the defeats would force a wholesale change in thinking, even among centrists who have been committed to their view that a middle ground approach works best at the national level.
“This of all elections feels the least like … the pundits get to say this is the left’s fault, despite the Morning Joes of the world doing so,” said the strategist.
“It was a failure of Dem leadership to build the coalition the left has been saying we need to build forever,” the source said. “Instead we spent more time courting the five voters who might be swung by a Liz Cheney endorsement.”
Another progressive outsider, spiritual author Marianne Williamson, was not able to build the kind of large coalition or gain the same big following as Sanders despite running on largely the same platform for the past two cycles.
“Trump couldn’t care less about working-class concerns, but he’s shrewd enough to at least acknowledge them,” Williamson told The Hill.
“The Democratic elite has had this paternalistic assumption that they know what’s best, and people should simply surrender to their superior wisdom,” she said. “It was b.s. from the beginning, the curtain has been pulled, and the wizard is exposed to have been a bunch of soulless managerial types feeding on the carcass of what used to be a vital political party.”

Trump says Musk, Ramaswamy will form outside group to advise White House on government efficiency
President-elect Donald Trump on Tuesday said Elon Musk and former GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy will lead a new “Department of Government Efficiency” — which is not, despite the name, a government agency.
The acronym “DOGE” is a nod to Musk’s favorite cryptocurrency, dogecoin. Trump said in a statement that Musk and Ramaswamy will work from outside the government to offer the White House “advice and guidance” and will partner with the Office of Management and Budget to “drive large scale structural reform, and create an entrepreneurial approach to Government never seen before.” He added that the move would shock government systems.
Musk posted on X: “Department of Government Efficiency. The merch will be (fire emojis).” Later he added: “Threat to democracy? Nope, threat to BUREAUCRACY!!!”

Pair of Trump Officials Have Defended Family Separation, Ramped-up Deportations
Donald Trump’s first picks for immigration policy jobs spent the last four years angling for this moment.
Stephen Miller and Thomas Homan had critical roles in the first Trump administration and are unapologetic defenders of its policies, which included separating thousands of parents from their children at the border to deter illegal crossings. With Trump promising sweeping action in a second term on illegal immigration, the two White House advisers will bring nuts-and-bolts knowledge, lessons from previous setbacks and personal views to help him carry out his wishes.
Homan “knows how the machine operates,” said Ronald Vitiello, a former Border Patrol chief and acting Immigration and Customs Enforcement director under Trump. “He did it as a front line, he did it as a supervisor, and he did it as the lead executive. He doesn’t have anything to learn on that side of the equation.”
Miller, he said, is deeply knowledgeable, has firm ideas about how the system should work, and has Trump’s confidence.
Trump, Miller said at the former president’s Madison Square Garden rally last month, was fighting for “the right to live in a country where criminal gangs cannot just cross our border and rape and murder with impunity.”
“America is for Americans and Americans only,” he added.

Ok, so in early 1900’s some French thinkers came up with concept of post -structuralism, that really took off in the 1960s.
So, lets take a apple. Because each person might view that apple different, like one thinking its a fruit, another perceiving it as symbol for original sin, than there is no truth. So societies were nothing but social constructs. In, other words there is no truth.
Fast forward and you get the assertion a man is a women a women is a man , etc etc.
So even if a chair is a chair, or a storm a storm , or a apple a apple, or a tree is a tree, how these items are perceived cancels out any Universal Truths.
So, even if a high % of time running out in front of a speeding car is going to result in death or injury, its not truth just because that was perceived it would happen.
So the basis of this idea that perception by the beholder wipes out any reality or truth is the set up for anarchy by activists in the final analysis.
There is no good or evil, just the perception of it. There is no conquences for your actions, just the perception of it. All teachings and structures of society are subject to change because its not based on truth, but ever-changing perception of reality.
So, what I wrote about above , was the mind virus that brought us to the “Tyranny of Minorities” that want us to defy reality and act against our own interest.
You’ll be happier, and sleep better too, if you focus on the fruits of your labor and leave matters of the state to the state.
So societies were nothing but social constructs. In, other words there is no truth
Let’s see, which airliner would I fly in? One that was designed and built on sound principles (truth) or one that is not?
Trump Selects Matt Gaetz as US Attorney General
Gaetz, 42, has represented Florida’s 1st Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2017.
President-elect Donald Trump on Nov. 13 said he’s selecting Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) to be attorney general in the second Trump administration.
Gaetz “will end Weaponized Government, protect our Borders, dismantle Criminal Organizations and restore Americans’ badly-shattered Faith and Confidence in the Justice Department,” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social.
“It will be an honor to serve as President Trump’s Attorney General!” Gaetz wrote on X, another social media platform.
Trump praised Gaetz for, as a member of the House Judiciary Committee, exposing details of the dossier-fueled investigation into Trump’s first campaign for office. Trump described Gaetz as “a deeply gifted and tenacious attorney … who has distinguished himself in Congress through his focus on achieving desperately needed reform at the Department of Justice.”
The U.S. attorney general position requires Senate confirmation.
Gaetz has called for reform of major components of the department, including the potential abolishment of agencies such as the FBI.

‘Drummond argues that Canada’s ultra-low interest rates from 2011 to 2019 did more harm than good. Intended as economic relief after the Financial Crisis, the prolonged low rates contributed to ballooning house prices, making homes less affordable even as mortgages became cheaper. ‘You had a rock-bottom interest rate, but you had to buy a million-dollar house,’ he told the audience. ‘How does that help anybody?’

‘NSW Housing Minister Rose Jackson has suggested it is possible to rent a two-bedroom apartment in Sydney for ‘a couple of hundred bucks’ a week. ‘Sydney’s a big city, you know, I mean, a couple of hundred bucks right?’

…
‘Core CPI, which excludes food and energy prices, rose 0.3% in October and increased 3.3% year over year.
The CPI data suggested “core PCE will also see a monthly gain that displays considerably lower inflation than we have been used to over the prior years, yet an inflation trajectory that has also probably wrung out most of the potential inflation improvement for much of the goods economy and some of the services sector,” said Rieder.’
