The Only Thing In Dispute Is By How Much House Prices Will Be Going Down

It’s Friday desk clearing time for this blogger. “Laura Loyd, a single mother of four had been laid off from her job at a resort in nearby Branson when tourism froze up from coronavirus. Tony LaGrand, who was the landlord at the time, had just turned 24 when he purchased the units in February. LaGrand, who lost the property to foreclosure, says he’s now more than $1.6 million in debt. ‘The place was falling apart,’ LaGrand said. ‘I didn’t have any rent coming in, and people wouldn’t pay. It was a really messed up situation. I spent my entire life savings on this project.'”

“Attorneys in Massachusetts challenged Gov. Charlie Baker’s blanket moratorium on evictions this summer, arguing it was overly broad and unconstitutional, said real estate attorney Richard Vetstein. The case’s named landlord, Marie Baptiste, had a tenant who owed $18,900 for eight months of unpaid rent and was struggling to maintain her finances. ‘Everyone’s getting screwed,’ Vetstein said.”

“Just under half of renter households lost income from mid-March to mid-September. Roughly 15% were behind on their monthly rents. Many have been helped by a patchwork of eviction moratoriums and other local, state, and federal protections and assistance, including unemployment benefits. Some of these benefits are about to run out. ‘There’s a limit to how long [landlords] can … survive without income coming in,’ says Managing Director Chris Herbert of Joint Center for Housing Studies at Harvard University.”

“‘What we’re seeing is that renters who might have been in a small apartment are instead looking at larger units — maybe a two-bedroom instead of a one-bedroom,’ said Zillow Premier Agent Kenny Truong, founder of Fast Real Estate in the San Francisco Bay Area. ‘Some others are moving to a rental with a view or a yard for a similar price.’ On a national basis, the typical monthly rent was nearly 1 percent higher in September but lower than last year in seven major metro areas. This suggests that a glut of empty apartments has pulled rents lower in some areas.”

“The Downtown Chicago apartment market continued to struggle in the third quarter. Occupancy rate for Downtown apartments dropped to 87.1 percent from 93.8 percent in Q3 2019, Crain’s reported, citing Integra Realty Resources. It marked the lowest point since Integra began tracking the downtown market 22 years ago. As a way to keep tenants in place, landlords slashed rents between 18 and 23 percent from the third quarter of 2019, according to the report.”

“With nearly 14,615 apartments listed in the Denver area, prospective renters are enthusiastic about the market, searching for cheaper rents, taking advantage of increased concessions, and looking for properties with more space. This increase in consumer optimism is a positive sign following a sharp drop in searches (since peaking in January 2020). Denver apartment complex’s are also getting creative to entice renters with offers like living six weeks free with free parking for a year to 50 percent off rent for three months. Concessions jumped sharply to new heights nationally in October 2020 with 52 percent of apartment buildings in Denver offering a deal, up from 27 percent in October 2019. Additionally, 18 percent of apartment buildings are offering one or more concessions exceeding one month’s free rent — a tell-tale sign of a stressed market.”

“Boston’s Zoning Board of Appeals Tuesday rejected hospitality company Sonder’s push to convert 21 residential units at a downtown building into executive suites. Downtown BID CEO Rosemarie Sansone, a backer of Sonder’s proposal, said in a statement the executive suites issue shouldn’t be tied to existing housing needs. ‘It is unfortunate that they were denied at a time when property owners are doing all they can to make sure their properties are active and vibrant and not empty in these challenging and unprecedented times,’ Sansone said.”

“New listings coming to market have been up for several months, ‘a positive indicator for the market,’ said Lisa Sturtevant, chief economist of Virginia Realtors. More homes available may ease the psychological pressure on prospective purchasers to grab the first thing they see – a trait that also accompanied the 2001-07 real-estate boom that preceded the national 2008-09 crash. And the prospect of a housing ‘bubble’ that ultimately bursts is only one concern for the market. Sturtevant pointed to the prospect of more stringent economic lockdowns.”

“A short-term rental ban in Palm Desert will be expanded to include homes in planned residential zoning districts, effective Dec. 31, 2021. The ban affects 69 vacation rental properties in these PR-zoned neighborhoods. Short-term rental owner Cody Carlson urged the council not to impose the ban not just for the sake of property owners but also for those who maintain the properties who could lose their jobs as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact the overall economy. ‘People are losing their jobs, unable to put food on their tables, questioning if the roof over their head will be there tomorrow,’ Carlson said.”

“As the Toronto-area real estate market cools in November, some sellers of downtown condos are already thinking about the spring of 2021. Christopher Bibby, real estate agent with Re/Max Hallmark Bibby Group Realty Ltd., has done ‘lots of damage control and hand-holding’ since the COVID-19 pandemic prompted governments to impose emergency health measures in March. Prices for condo units in downtown Toronto have dipped, he says. ‘To say the market is flat is inaccurate,’ he says. ‘It’s quite evident the market is down.'”

“Some owners contact him to say they are considering listing a unit but they won’t sell below a certain price. Usually people want to know the truth, he says, but not everyone understands the complexities of the current market. ‘I tell them, I really genuinely believe that I can’t achieve a number like that,’ he says. ‘There are some people whose ideas align with a pre-pandemic market. It’s as if they are almost in denial about what’s going on.'”

“There’s no longer a mad rush to get in to see a unit the same day it arrives on the market. ‘It’s actually quite fun being a buyer right now. There were buildings you could never get into. You can get into those buildings today and pay five per cent under asking.'”

“‘Generally, tenants tend to move in with family or share with friends in tough economic times, and this reduces the overall demand for rental units. This results in landlords offering reduced rents, not only to retain quality tenants but also to achieve the desirable level of occupancy to remain afloat. We see the emergence of this theme playing out in the Namibian rental market particularly in the high-end segment,’ added Frans Uusiku, FNB Market Researcher. Walvis Bay continues to bear the brunt of a deeper contraction in rent prices of 43.9% y/y, followed by Ondangwa (-30.3% y/y), Rundu (-20.5% y/y), Oshakati (-17% y/y).”

“When taking inflation into account house prices in South Africa will likely keep falling for the next five years, according to property economist Erwin Rode. ‘The only thing in dispute is by how much house prices will be going down in real terms,’ he said. ‘Until recently banks were prepared to grant 100% mortgages, which made me worried of what the eventual outcome of this policy would be.'”

“C P Tan owns apartments in several buildings located in Kuala Lumpur. He rents out these strata units on a short-term basis and uses the income to service his loan but is now worried about whether he can continue the practice. Already, the building management of an apartment building near the Petronas Twin Towers where Tan owns a unit has informed him he can no longer rent out his unit on a short-term basis.”

“‘It is said that bad things come in threes. As it is, the economy was already slowing down before the last election and we now have an unstable government. Because of Covid-19 and its domino effect on the travel-related industry, I am no longer getting tenants like before. Now, this decision by the Federal Court may encourage other buildings to also ban short-term rentals.'”

“Following a client uprising over the weekend that drove rumours of bankruptcy early this week, Beijing-based rental platform Danke Apartments may be in line for a buyout, according to local media reports. Danke’s troubles appeared to peak over the weekend when Chinese media reported that angry crowds of evicted tenants and unpaid landlords had gathered outside the company’s Hangzhou, Beijing and Shenzhen offices demanding termination of the contracts and accompanying loans.”

“On Monday tenants and landlords gathered at offices in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Beijing, where at least 100 people gate-crashed Danke’s headquarters, according to local media accounts. They queued up and went to different registration points, with tenants requesting refunds and deposits while landlords sought contract termination.”

“Phoenix Tree was valued at $2.74 billion at the time of its American IPO in January but has since shed 83 percent of its value to a low of $300 million, according to The Paper. Danke’s value is currently $800 million. The company founded by Gao Jing has been plagued by money issues since it started an aggressive expansion campaign in 2017, and it has yet to post a profit. Danke reported a RMB 3.4 billion ($480 million) loss for 2019.”

“Danke and many others’ model is similar to that of failed co-working giant WeWork’s. Danke takes long-term leases on existing homes and divides them into dorm-style flats, which it subsequently sublets to young professionals, but which also leaves the company holding long-term liabilities. The dodgy practice is common in the largely unregulated sector and has added to the drama as a host of mainland apartment platforms have defaulted or closed down this year, 58 Anjuke Real Estate Research Institute chief analyst Zhang Bo told the SCMP. ‘Before Danke, more than a dozen smaller operators have shut up shop this year,”’ he said.”

‘In an interview with the Fox Business Channel, Giuliani, in his capacity as lawyer of reelectionist US President Donald Trump, claimed that the Smartmatic vote-counting machines were “hackable.”

‘He said Dominion, the company that provided the automated vote-counting system used during the most recent presidential election, was owned by Smartmatic through an intermediary company referred to as Indra.’

‘He claimed that the Smartmatic vote-counting machine was basically developed and designed to commit fraud in the process of vote-counting, particularly for the Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez.’

‘He claimed that Smartmatic had been behind the electoral frauds in many countries, without actually mentioning the Philippines, which has been using its system for over a decade.’

‘Giuliani also hinted about the origins of the Dominion- Voting System and the company’s alleged connection with Smartmatic, one of the most questioned automated voting companies, primarily because of the affiliation of the people behind the company to Chávez.’

‘He accused Smartmatic of manipulating the recent US presidential election in key US states, adding that its Dominion Voting System was using machines designed to allow human intervention.’

‘He said Smartmatic was founded by three Venezuelans who were very close to the dictator Hugo Chávez back in 2003, adding that the company was formed to fix elections. “That’s the company that owns Dominion. Dominion is a Canadian company, but all its software is from Smartmatic,” Giuliani was quoted during the interview.’

I believe this is the gentleman in the top video.

‘The claims of unexplained anomalies by Wayne County, Michigan, election board canvassers are validated by one renowned election fraud experts who states, definitively, that Michigan’s election results – across the state and not just in Wayne County – are a “physical impossibility.”

‘The examination of the Michigan voter data was performed by Russell Ramsland, the co-owner of Allied Security Operations Group (ASOG). His company specializes in detecting election fraud, cybersecurity, open source intelligence and global security services. Ramsland served in the Reagan administration and has worked for both NASA and MIT.’

‘In the affidavit concerning the election in Michigan, Ramsland determined – without question – that vote fraud and ballot tampering took place in the 2020 General Election in Michigan determining the results as they are currently known to be a “physical impossibility.”

‘In addressing the Dominion Voting System, Ramsland was critical of its security over-all citing “vulnerabilities to hacking and tampering, both at the front end where Americans cast their votes, and at the back end where the votes are stored, tabulated, and reported.”

‘Ramsland noted that the vulnerabilities described are well-known by experts in the voting securing field and that these vulnerabilities have been extensively written about. “My colleagues and I… have studied… the November 3, 2020, election results. Based on the significant anomalies and red flags that we have observed, we believe there is a significant probability that election results have been manipulated…” Ramsland wrote.’

‘His colleague, Dr. Andrew Appel, a professor of computer science at Princeton University and an election security expert, said, “I figured out how to make a slightly different computer program that just before the polls were closed it switches some votes around from one candidate to another. I wrote that computer program into a memory chip and now to hack a voting machine you need just 7 minutes alone with it and a screw driver.”

Just keep in mind that in this case the National Guard will be deployed to crush any resistance. We won’t be allowed to “mostly peacefully protest”. We probably won’t be allowed to protest at all.

          5. Don’t forget that the Language Police have decreed that “globalist” is a No-No Word.

Nobody elected these people, they don’t get to police language. Globalists are bloodsucking ticks, they do not produce, they only extract.

          6. Just keep in mind that in this case the National Guard will be deployed to crush any resistance.

Think again. The globalists better assign two Peace Force deputized BLM-Antifa thugs to keep an eye on every National Guard member they send to suppress Americans standing up for their Constitutional rights.

BTW, the twitter link details how prepared they were. I found it at the bitchute link in the description. It said this above the MT link:

‘The Federalized National Guard were pulling around the clock duty in at least 16 states to trap these monsters. All the swing states currently involved in the theft are on the list.’

            There was also this:

‘Nov 7 Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility. (SCIF)
The kind used by Army intelligence cyber security division.
They were monitoring the fraud in real time.’

          8. Democratic senators warned of potential ‘vote switching’ by Dominion voting machines prior to 2020 election

Four congressional Democrats sent a letter to the owners of Dominion Voting Systems and cited several problems that “threaten the integrity of our elections,” including “vote switching.”

In a December 2019 letter to Dominion Voting Systems, which has been mired in controversy after a human error involving its machines in Antrim County, Michigan, resulted in incorrect counts, Democratic Sens. Elizabeth Warren, Ron Wyden, and Amy Klobuchar and congressman Mark Pocan warned about reports of machines “switching votes,” “undisclosed vulnerabilities,” and “improbable” results that “threaten the integrity of our elections.”

          9. controversy after a human error

So they say, but offer no details. Did the media insert this part of the narrative?

          10. Lesson: fraud is acceptable when your team wins.

Not just acceptable. Now we’ll also make sure the other team isn’t even allowed to talk about it in public regardless of what the Constitution says.

        2. ‘Dominion Voting Systems committed to attending an oversight hearing in Pennsylvania but backed out at the last moment, lawmakers in the Keystone State said Friday.’

“The members of the state government committee were looking forward to publicly addressing the plethora of accusations of Dominion Voting Systems in a format which would have allowed open and honest dialogue. I was impressed at what appeared to be the willingness of Dominion Voting Systems to address accusations, and it would have put the 1.3 million Pennsylvanians who used their machines at ease, including myself,” state Rep. Seth Grove, a Republican who chairs of the Government Oversight Committee, said during a press conference.’

“Unfortunately, last evening, Dominion Voting Systems lawyered up and backed out of their commitment.”

‘Fourteen counties in Pennsylvania use Dominion’s voting systems. Approximately 1.3 million people, or 19 percent of voters, voted in those counties.’

“Instead of running towards the light of honesty and integrity, Dominion Voting Systems retreated to the darkness. Why? Why would a vendor of public goods fear discussing their products sold to the public for the public good?” Grove said.’

“If Dominion’s products were successful and operated as they were supposed to, why wouldn’t Dominion take the opportunity to publicly review its success? How hard is to say, ‘our ballot machines worked exactly as promised, and they are 100 percent accurate?’”

‘Dominion did not respond to a request for comment.’

‘The cancellation adds credibility to accusations against Dominion, state lawmakers said. They said Dominion has to earn the trust of Pennsylvanians.’

“Most of us would agree here that we trust the workers in our polling places, and we trust the workers in our counties. They’re our neighbors and they are people that we elected. But what we don’t know, and therefore we can’t trust, is the role of third-party companies,” state Rep. Dawn Keefer, a Republican, said at the briefing.’

‘Dominion was given the chance “to demonstrate who they were, the services they were providing, the products that they were selling us and how they were being utilized, and give the voters the confidence that they’re looking for,” she added.’

‘Questions that would have been asked included whether Dominion had a role in the tabulation of votes, whether Dominion machines use open source software, and who controls the source code. Grove suggested subpoenas are possible.’

          https://www.theepochtimes.com/dominion-cancels-planned-appearance-before-pennsylvania-lawmakers_3587425.html

          1. People forget that 2016 the libscum tried the same thing, stopped counting in a few areas. For some reason they resumed after a short time and the rest is history. Trump and everyone else with a brain knew this goes back probably a decade or more and he set a trap for them. They really couldnt avoid it – his reelection means they likely get prosecuted and then executed for their attempted coup, among many other crimes. Trump had to work over the last 4 years to lay the framework for being able to catch them committing fraud using the broad array of tools they use. He also had to make sure the courts were squared away so some commie judge wouldnt effectively rubber stamp election fraud.

Trump is sun tzu with a healthy dash of chess grand master and judo black belt – he takes his opponents energy and redirects it to his own aims. Its why he let this covid hysteria play out the way it did – he emphasized federalism, letting the leftist dictators of various states show their incompetence, cruelty and capriciousness.

          2. Is there still time for this? We’re getting very close to states certifying election results even if there are a hundred court cases in the works. It already seems to late for Georgia and Michigan.

    2. It seems to me that what they did was halt the counting when they figured out exactly how many ballots they were behind and what would be needed, then delivered all of those absentee ballots to different cities at roughly the same time late in the night/early in the evening (explained by the vehicles showing up with boxes), and just dumped all of them into the system for Biden. Then, when it’s time for a recount, the fraudulent ballots are there to cover their tracks. They had this planned.

  2. ‘Phoenix Tree was valued at $2.74 billion at the time of its American IPO in January but has since shed 83 percent of its value to a low of $300 million, according to The Paper. Danke’s value is currently $800 million’

Lots of money going poof right now.

    1. https://www.cnbc.com/2020/11/20/wish-releases-s-1-for-ipo.html

“In general, the company is showing moderate growth without skyrocketing losses. Wish reported $1.75 billion in revenue for the nine months ended Sept. 30. That’s up from $1.33 billion during the same period last year, a growth rate of 32%. However, revenue grew only 10% between 2018 and 2019.

The company’s bottom line has been fairly stable — it lost $247 million in 2017, $208 million in 2018, and $136 million last year. In the first nine months of 2020, it lost $176 million.”

      Stable as a rock!

Wa happened to my red-hotcakes UHS?

    1. my entire life savings

At age 24? He must have borrowed his entire life “savings”. Well, he’s young enough to work it out.

At age 24 my entire life savings was a beat up old Ford.

      1. DegenerateGamblers always talk like they’ve got a paper @sshole.

        “project”?

He didn’t earn anything, he didn’t build anything, he didn’t do N.E.Thing but borrow a pile of money.

If it were that easy, we’d all be doing it and we’d all be gazillionares.

    2. Unfortunately for young Tony, his business model of buying rentals, retiring early and living on easy street took a huge crapola when somebody 5000 miles away supposedly ate a bat! $hit happens…

  5. ‘To say the market is flat is inaccurate,’ he says. ‘It’s quite evident the market is down.’

This is in reply to the phony UHS numbers saying airboxes are up a bit.

‘Marie Baptiste, had a tenant who owed $18,900 for eight months of unpaid rent and was struggling to maintain her finances. ‘Everyone’s getting screwed’

Not everyone Dick, just you suckers in socialist sh$tholes.

    1. ‘Marie Baptiste, had a tenant who owed $18,900 for eight months of unpaid rent and was struggling to maintain her finances. ‘Everyone’s getting screwed’

I bet the tenant was driving a brand new, $50k+ car, too.

  6. More homes available may ease the psychological pressure on prospective purchasers to grab the first thing they see – a trait that also accompanied the 2001-07 real-estate boom that preceded the national 2008-09 crash.

Any “psychological pressure” will be felt solely by the sheeple who get their news and perspectives from the REIC shills and touts at the MSM. They will pay a terrible financial price for that misplaced trust. I, on the other hand, will be reclining indolently on my lawn chair in my comfy rental house, celebratory adult beverage in hand, as I watch the cratering gather force.

  7. ‘More homes available may ease the psychological pressure on prospective purchasers to grab the first thing they see – a trait that also accompanied the 2001-07 real-estate boom that preceded the national 2008-09 crash. Gosh, I hope no one overpaid under that psychological pressure to grab the first thing they see!

‘There’s no longer a mad rush to get in to see a unit the same day it arrives on the market’

    Again.

‘It’s actually quite fun being a buyer right now. There were buildings you could never get into. You can get into those buildings today and pay five per cent under asking’

That’s the spirit! Kick em while they’re down. Plus the market needs knife catchers.

  8. ‘People are losing their jobs, unable to put food on their tables, questioning if the roof over their head will be there tomorrow,’ Carlson said.”

These crocodile tears by STR “investors” always make my pimp hand start to raise involuntarily. Hey Cody, what about all the people who were priced out of decent housing because of speculators like you, or who had the quality of life in their neighborhoods destroyed by the endless coming and going of STR partiers who didn’t give a damn about their impact on the neighbors?

  9. “…Tony LaGrand, who was the landlord at the time, had just turned 24 when he purchased the units in February…”

“…I spent my entire life savings on this project…”

    Strike 1) Believing the REIConplex.

Strike 2) Spending entire life savings on a single investment.

Strike 3) Renting to a single mother of four whose only income is from a tourist facing job.

Don’t worry Tony. Once you hit yourself with a hammer on your head a few times, you’ll figure out that’s not a good thing.

    1. Strike 3) Renting to a single mother of four whose only income is from a tourist facing job.

I’m guessing those four kids had four different fathers, and multiple baby daddy candidates around the time of conception. Fiscal and life irresponsibility seem to go hand in hand.

      1. “those four kids had four different fathers”

        More kids = more gibs.

And since I’m single and don’t have kids, they want me to pay for their gibs.

        1. Paying for my own kids is costing me dearly. Especially now that my oldest has started college. Now I’m supposed to pay for all the special snowflakes who decide to get worthless overpriced degrees that qualify them to be Starbucks baristas, if they’re lucky. F**k you, Elizabeth Warren.

      2. “…guessing those four kids had four different fathers, and multiple baby daddy candidates around the time of conception…”

No worries.. DNA testing will sort it all out (Taxpayer funded of course!)

        1. Those were my favorite Maury Povich shows….Are you my baby’s daddy DNA test episodes….the best ones are when the woman comes back a second and third time insisting that this time there isn’t anyone else that could the father…this has to be the guy…but It turns out not to be. Watching a few of those episodes should be required viewing for every male approaching dating age.

      3. And I’ll bet shes coming in at 300lbs easy, covered in tats and piercings and on the BLM train (in more ways than one, lol!)

    2. I’m currently following a YouTuber who buys very cheap homes and fixes them up for rental. Twice he rented a house to low-income residents and twice he was burned (didn’t pay rent, left a mess). So he kept the place empty for a couple years and then sold it. One commenter to the video, purporting to be an affordable housing advocate, lambasted him for leaving the house empty when there were families that needed cheap housing. (because, you know, all of these low-income renters are saints and would have been doctors and lawyers except for you-know-what.) We commenters lambasted her right back.

      1. I worked for a guy a long time ago whose family had a bunch of rental houses in town – somewhere in the vicinity of a dozen or so. They sold all of them off and got out of it. They said they didn’t make any profit after getting burned by deadbeats and spending money on repairs and maintenance.

  10. “Some owners contact him to say they are considering listing a unit but they won’t sell below a certain price.

You stick to yer guns, greedheads. Surely a creditworthy buyer will be along any day now looking to pay your above-market wish price.

  11. Danke’s troubles appeared to peak over the weekend when Chinese media reported that angry crowds of evicted tenants and unpaid landlords had gathered outside the company’s Hangzhou, Beijing and Shenzhen offices demanding termination of the contracts and accompanying loans.”

When housing losses we must eat
Let us stamp our little feet!

  12. “Phoenix Tree was valued at $2.74 billion at the time of its American IPO in January but has since shed 83 percent of its value to a low of $300 million, according to The Paper.

Time to start breaking ground on a memorial to all those trillions of dear departed Yellen Bux.

    1. Rather than just allow things to happen naturally and organically, these globalist cvcks are trying to manufacture a fake reset in which all the billionaire globalist oligarchs escape unscathed with all of their ill-gotten loot intact, while crucifying most others. Then, they will pick up every other asset on planet earth which matters, while enslaving the masses under draconian governments.

        1. “We’re never going back to the old economy,” says Jerome Powell,

Exactly. As if the old winner-take-all eCONomy wasn’t bad enough, they’ve to an even worse version cued up.

        2. I’m expecting UBI and a large VAT to fund it to be justified on the grounds that too many will never be able to adapt to the new normal and will thus be unemployable.

          1. The average inmate reads at best a 6-8th grade level, and we have millions of inner city yootz who can’t wait to get on the school to prison pipeline. Yet its racis to demand you learn to speak fluent English for your ubi checks or for early release for prison.

        3. “The recovery is incomplete,” he said…

Like many of our millennial workers Powell likely has no idea what a healthy economy actually looks like.

    2. The online dictionary says …

“Populism: a political approach that strives to appeal to ordinary people who feel that their concerns are disregarded by established elite groups.”

Just imagine having to endure living under such an evil thing! Truly this approach needs to be stamped out whenever it dares to raise its ugly head.

    3. What’s even more pathetic is that all of Blue Checkmark Twitter accepts, and will promote the Great Reset, and will soon ban anyone for questioning it.

      Globalists gonna globe.

      1. Ever notice how anything “they” don’t want you to know about is quickly labeled as “hate speech”?

    4. Of course a Marxist revolution would be horrible but I have to admit that I’d enjoy the first few months when oligarchs like Kerry are rounded up and shot.

      1. Um, who do you think would be bankrolling said Marxist revolution? Do some research into Tides Foundation and Thousands Currents, and other “pass-through” organizations funneling hundreds of millions to Communist insurrectionists like BLM and Antifa.

  13. Seriously, what the heck. John Kerry is liberal, I understand. But it’s not as if he wawhat’s wrong with appealing to ordinary people, which is precisely what the Dems used to do?

    1. OK sorry I hit a wrong button in there somewhere. I was just saying that populism was what Democrats were originally about. Sure FDR printed money, but the people had to work for it, in the CCC or Hoover Dam or whatever. Now it’s as if they don’t want us to work.

        1. The Dems of the 1860s who defended slavery are not the Dems of the 1960s who gave Blacks the right to vote.

          1. ‘With a little research, the actual voting record for both Houses of Congress shows that the Civil Rights Act of 1964 passed the Senate on a 73-to-27 vote. The Democratic supermajority in the Senate split their vote 46 (69%) for and 21 (31%) against. The Republicans, on the other hand, split their vote 27 for (82%) and 6 against (18%). Thus, the no vote consisted of 78% Democrats. Further, the infamous 74-day filibuster was led by the Southern Democrats, who overwhelmingly voted against the act.’

‘An examination of the House vote shows a similar pattern. The House voted 290 to 130 in favor. Democrats split their vote 152 (61%) to 96 (39%) while Republicans split theirs 138 (80%) to 34 (20%). The no vote consisted of 74% Democrats.’

            https://www.wsj.com/articles/SB1041302509432817073

          2. Oh shoot, I forgot about that. But it was LBJ who signed it into law.
But still, at least the Dems cared about the (white) working class, while Republicans were actively against unions. And unions did some good things, until they got greedy in later days.

          3. Lyndon Johnson was a civil rights hero. But also a racist.

‘Lyndon Johnson said the word “nigger” a lot.’

‘In Senate cloakrooms and staff meetings, Johnson was practically a connoisseur of the word. According to Johnson biographer Robert Caro, Johnson would calibrate his pronunciations by region, using “nigra” with some southern legislators and “negra” with others. Discussing civil rights legislation with men like Mississippi Democrat James Eastland, who committed most of his life to defending white supremacy, he’d simply call it “the nigger bill.”

          1. Back in my military days the deep South was largely rural compared to the industrialized North. Crude shanties on public land were commonplace.

  14. I spent my entire life savings on this project.’”

How does a 24 get approved for so much debt? Lending standards were air tight they said. As tight as Lady Gaga dirty anus hole.

    1. I’m sure that while he was collecting inflated rents that he probably tooled around in a Tesla or some Eurolux car while bragging about how he didn’t have to work.

  15. Still not at all what I am actually seeing in Massachusetts… The city and nearby areas are a little slower than usual. But, anything worth living in up in the burbs is going first weekend 3-10% over asking. Don’t see that situation changing here with supply limited.

    1. Don’t see that situation changing here with supply limited.

“Supply limited?” Did they destroy a bunch of housing stock or something?

      1. Point me to where the “oversupply” and “shadow inventory” is in the GBA. I’ll wait… This area has a ridiculously strong economy and healthy job market. I think the housing market is ridiculous, but I think the fed will succeed in keeping it propped up and this area just won’t slow down.

        1. I’ve posted many articles on the oversupply in downtown Boston and the double digit price declines in condos. And the needles and human poop.

          1. Condos in the Boston area area a bit soft. A colleague of mine just bought one and then spent money making updates in a very close-in suburb.

Apartments though are very soft. Don’t hear any of that “fee” (one months rent for the agent that “brokers” the deal) nonsense when looking lately.

          2. Agreed with that, Ben. The city itself is slowing down, rental prices down big time, with lots of incentives thrown in for “luxury” buildings. Suburban MA SFH though? Going through the roof.

      2. Housing stock doesn’t need to be destroyed; it just needs to be withdrawn from sale. Can’t buy what isn’t for sale. And if banks keep rolling over the debt like they do for payday loans (ZIRP, anyone?), then nobody is forced into a fire sale. This is why we have empty storefronts in tony Manhattan.

    2. cash offers

I still wonder how all these people can come up with hundreds of thousands and not need a mortgage. Are they all equity locusts? But yeah, I hear about this all the time. Whenever a coworker trades up, they sell their house in just a few days and get cash offers over asking.

      1. get cash offers

Doesn’t mean they have cash in hand. Could be pre-approved financing and they are making a no contingency offer. A foolish move, but it happens.

  16. 2020 is the year that the term “white supremacist” lost all meaning or value.

The Southern Poverty Law Center needs to be shut down and have all of their illegally accumulated assets seized. Give that money to the Historically Black Colleges and Universities, the SPLC is a fraud.

          1. You can’t argue with that. He posts data showing rising house prices and calls it crater. When you point it out he always replies with the same answer “This is good news” I am pretty sure it is a troll bot.

          2. “This is good news”

I looked at the link. Median List price took a 17% dive. In fact if you look at their 5 year history, median list seems to have broken out on the low side.

I’d suggest you buy, buy, buy, but I kinda think you already did.

          3. In my neighborhood, list price is cratering but so what? Those list price drops are just some reno-flippers who try to list their Slate Gray Masterpieces at $525K but wound up selling for $470K. Doesn’t matter. The sale prices, even after the drop, are still a little higher than last year.

          4. “I looked at the link. Median List price took a 17% dive. In fact if you look at their 5 year history, median list seems to have broken out on the low side.

I am not sure what you are talking about.

He posted another “prices crater in Colorado Springs” in the zip code I happen to rent it. Guess what, prices increased 13.6% yoy

          5. I am not sure what you are talking about

Of course you do. The Framingham post above, not your Springs.

Nice place when it’s not burning! Extracted my daughter from there a few years ago. Things don’t always go the way one hopes.

  17. I am the side lines with cash waiting for California markets like Sacramento home prices to drop and inventory to rise. Could take several years unfortunately due to corrupt central banker meddling with FED buying mortgage backed securities last I heard was $2 TRILLION worth! I do hope interest rates rise, prices drop and inventory spikes. A dream come true for us frugal renters.

    1. I am the side lines with cash waiting for California markets like Sacramento home prices to drop and inventory to rise.

Uggh. It’s almost like you told us this under 3 other screen names or something.

    1. The only thing dying is the US dollar. Not smart to be sitting in cash. This isn’t your grandfather’s ole fashioned recession on the horizon.

      1. thing dying is the US dollar

There is no one in my circles that says they are finding it easier and easier to earn USD or that they find it easier to meet their USD obligations.

Except for a couple of renters.

        1. It’s apparent that dollars are in very high demand. People do anything to get their hands on them.

          King Dollar

      2. You’re using dollars every day, and you know it. All these cryptokings are selling their speculative orgy gains for dollars. You know the jig, man, quit frontin’.

  18. What we are witnessing right now in the eCONomy are the effects of trillions in money printing which ran into, yet again, all asset classes. This has nothing to do with fundamentals and everything to do with grossly irresponsible policies by a reckless and out-of-control FED and a corrupt political cabal working in concert to enrich bankers and the moneyed set while destroying a once-great nation. Here’s one of their biggest beneficiaries calling for even more under the guise of “helping Americans.” Sure thing, sh!tstain, that $1,200 is gonna cost each person 100 fold to pay back. Pigmen gonna pig…and pig…and pig….

JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon called on Congress to pass another stimulus package to help the economy and struggling Americans get through the “toughest part of COVID.”

“We have this big debate: ‘Is it $2.2 trillion, $1.5 trillion?’ You’ve got to be kidding me,” he said at The New York Times DealBook Online Summit on Wednesday. “Just split the baby and move on. I mean this is childish behavior on the part of our politicians. We need to help the citizens of America.”

    https://money.yahoo.com/jp-morgan-jamie-dimon-coronavirus-stimulus-162932301.html

    1. “…This has nothing to do with fundamentals and everything to do with grossly irresponsible policies by a reckless and out-of-control FED and a corrupt political cabal working in concert to enrich bankers and the moneyed set while destroying a once-great nation….”

      Well said.

Question being. How much longer can the madness possibly go on?

      1. Question being. How much longer can the madness possibly go on?

Until the end. I don’t think anybody knows when that is, but it will come. And I am going to guess that it arrives very quickly once it does, like a rogue wave.

      1. Food companies have a mission to convince people to eat more. Stockholders pressure food companies to sell 5-6% food more per year. Problem is that the population isn’t growing by 5%, so the only solutions are to (1) more food eaten per person (2) more profit for the food eaten. That’s why we’re seeing so much prepared food in the grocery stores, like Lean Cuisine or steam-ready veggies in a sauce of cheap modified corn starch. The value-add sauces are where the profit is.

        1. the population isn’t growing by 5%

We have a grocery chain here that grows by offering superior product and service. They eat the competition’s lunch. Wegman’s.

          1. I was thinking more of the food manufactures than food distribution stores, so to speak. How do sell 5% more frozen peas, for example. You can’t, really. But you can mix it with soybean oil, butter flavor, and MSG and label it a steam-ready side and mark it up 10%.

And Wegmans is all over the mid-Atlantic too. The place is huge.

          2. We need a Wegman’s up here in Maine. Maybe some day. It took X amount of years to get a Whole Foods and a Trader Joe’s in Portland. The big deal lately was a Chik Fila opening up. LOl, the Krispy Kreme that went in to Biddeford/Saco closed up a while back. Guess Dunkin killed them off.

  19. Lots of low income folks are leaving the “Free food” lines and getting themselves a rent free apartment , knowing they cant be evicted easily …If you are a landlord that owes a big mortgage on a rental property, you probably will be poorer in the next few years…

    1. It’s too bad I have morals and a conscience. I can’t imagine how nice it would be to pay no rent and have all that money to blow on a new wardrobe, car, etc.

    1. There never was any white flight, It was the parents who saw the next generation of kids on a jail track not a college one and moved and so did black parents who cared about their kids.
      ——————
White Flight 2.0 is underway….. The ~20% of kids that fell off the radar when schools shut down will be the advance vanguard of the coming crime wave.

    2. Watched those vicious people on CNN calling for punishment of people who are pro Trump, or over half the Country who voted for Trump.
These people are deranged and nuts in their psychology disorders . Healthy people don’t want to rule over people. It’s some some kind of a weird cult by losers that want to impose their will on others. They are the hate speak group that use fraud and fake narratives to advance their power hungry discrimination against regular hard working folk who aren’t parasites. They are parasites that loot and demean the productive until they kill the host. Some kind of weird abberation of the life principal that exalts weakness and thief and the worst emotions that loot and burn like mad dogs.
A Hilter type evil that’s deranged and homicidal.
Hard to watch because it’s so evil and dangerous .

  20. I didn’t have any rent coming in, and people wouldn’t pay

If Pedo Joe prevails in his theft. I expect this situation will become permanent. It will be interesting to see who will maintain these rentals after they have been foreclosed. I really doubt Freddie will dispatch maintenance crews to fix problems.
