One Morning, You Wake Up And It’s All Gone

It’s Friday desk clearing time for this blogger. “Retired NBA star Deron Williams, formerly of the Brooklyn Nets, has finally sold his Tribeca penthouse at 35 North Moore St. for less than half its original asking price.”

“Condo inventory was up for the fourth consecutive month. GBAR President Jason Gell noted that the increase in condos available is largely coming from downtown Boston’s luxury market. That market experienced a 51% increase in listings from October 2019, he said. ‘It’s a strong seller’s market everywhere except the downtown Boston condo market, where listings are up over 50 percent from a year ago and the price per square foot has dropped by nearly $50. In fact, we may be looking at one of the best buying opportunities in Boston since the last recession,’ he said.”

“Squint long enough at the cranes poking through Seattle’s skyline these days and they may start to resemble middle fingers. But more nascent construction raises the question: Should builders be this optimistic about downtown’s future? For developers and realtors looking for quick returns, the answer is no. A condo backlog has signaled that it could be a while before inventory and prices approach comfortable levels for realtors.”

“After more than three years on the market, a Beverly Hills mansion initially listed for $100 million has sold at less than half that price. The 20,000-square-foot (1,900-square-meter) house sold this week for $48.4 million, including furniture, according to a Multiple Listings Service report. It’s the latest luxury Los Angeles property to go for a steep discount. The market is particularly tough for so-called spec houses, built by developers with lofty price expectations that have often proved unrealistic.”

“‘It was never worth that to begin with,’ Jonathan Miller, president of appraiser Miller Samuel, said of Opus’s original $100 million price tag. ‘High-end properties are moving, but they’re not moving for prices that are disconnected from the market.'”

“Even sellers of non-spec houses have had to ratchet back their price expectations. Before heading to prison for her part in the 2019 college scandal, actress Lori Loughlin sold her Bel Air mansion for $18.75 million, a nearly 50% drop from the $35 million she originally sought. Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi asked $40 million for their Montecito home that sold for $33.3 million. Travis Kalanick purchased his $43 million Bel Air mansion at a 42% price cut this year. A sprawling home built by Bruce Makowsky sold last year for $94 million — a 62% discount to its $250 million asking price.”

“Foreclosure lawsuits increased significantly in South Florida this year due to the coronavirus pandemic’s impact on the real estate market. There were 34 large foreclosure lawsuits filed from November 2019 to November 2020. That’s an increase of 23, or 161%, from the prior year. The properties targeted in 2020 included a mix of retail, office and industrial space; hotels; apartments; condominiums; and an equestrian training facility.”

“Some buyers are becoming wary of the bidding wars that have propelled prices to new records in the Greater Toronto Area. ‘I’m sensing a little bit of a pullback with buyers,’ says Leslie Battle, an agent with Royal LePage. ‘I think it’s the thin edge of the wedge that we’re going to see a little bit more of.’ Real estate values are disconnected from the realities of an economic recession and decreased immigration, in her opinion. ‘We may see some fall-out from people who are forced to sell,’ she says.”

“One morning, after years of financial prudence and solid creditworthiness, you wake up and it’s all gone. You’re no longer worthy. You’re a risk. In fact, you’re sub-prime. That is the fate facing thousands of Britons who, often for no fault of their own, could begin 2021 as ‘subprime’ borrowers if they have had more than six months’ of relief from COVID-19 debt woes. Despite raiding retirement savings to pay the arrears in May, Julia McPherson’s credit score tumbled from a near-perfect 997 in January to a ‘very poor’ 296 in July on a scale devised by a leading scoring agency.”

“The hit means she can no longer borrow at rates she considers fair or affordable. ‘Unless you are extremely wealthy, you’re only ever one or two months away from debt,’ said McPherson, who criticised lenders for denying customers access to low-interest rate loans as the pandemic continues.”

“For the aspiring landlord, there’s one bit of prime real estate that could prove particularly interesting. Sotheby’s is running the sale on an entire apartment block located in The Address on Adderley in the Cape Town CBD. It’s a buyers market out there at the moment due to the pandemic, which is bad news for homeowners.”

“The recent collapse of Chennai-based Lakshmi Vilas Bank marks the failure of the fifth financial institution in less than three years. ‘In absence of any viable strategic plan, declining advances and mounting non-performing assets (NPAs), the losses are expected to continue. The bank has not been able to raise adequate capital to address issues around its negative net-worth and continuing losses,’ the RBI said. The frequency at which financial institutions are failing in the country is alarming. IL&FS, Diwan Housing Finance Corporation, Punjab and Maharashtra Cooperative Bank and Yes Bank are four other banks and financial institutions that have collapsed since 2018.”

“The Housing and Local Government Ministry will be conducting a study and analysis on the state of supply and demand of residential projects to address the property glut in the country. ‘There is a heavy overhang in residential property caused by poor planning of projects and unsuccessful housing loans,’ Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin said. ‘Currently, property developers do not have data on demand estimation for residences to guide their projects,’ she told the Dewan Rakyat.”

“A potential surge in ‘distressed sales’ forced on cash-strapped Victorian homeowners in the fallout of the COVID-19 recession, has prompted a state Treasury warning about a further softening of the real estate market. Budget papers warn that the twin effects of desperate owner-occupiers and property investors forced to offload houses and apartments that have been left vacant while international borders remain closed could drive prices lower.”

“Property prices in Victoria dropped by just under 5 per cent between March and October, according to the Victorian Department of Treasury and Finance, with the budget papers showing sale volumes in October were 25 per cent below normal levels, with a higher-than-usual number of distressed listings. ‘Mortgagees with housing equity less than 10 per cent of the value of their asset account for 5 per cent of total loans but nearly double the share of deferred loans,’ the budget papers state. ‘This suggests such mortgagees are finding it more difficult to meet loan repayments.'”

“Chinachem Group is changing its land-bidding strategy to focus on mass housing and move away from super-luxury trophy projects as the Hong Kong developer marked its 60th anniversary in the business. The Lands Department has called for bids by December 18 for the land valued by the market at more than HK$10 billion (US$1.29 billion). Bids received at a previous auction in October 2018 failed to meet the government’s price expectations. ‘We now have no plan’ to bid for the land, said chief executive Donald Choi.”

“Beijing-based rental expert Danke Apartment is struggling to get its house in order. The pandemic-induced cash crunch has left its clients – property owners and tenants – jostling each other. Danke sources flats from property owners then rents the renovated and furnished units for tenants, similar to WeWork’s WeLive service. Nevertheless, the firm running short on liquidity has been defaulting on rents since September in major cities, including Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzhou.”

“A property owner in Tianjin, surnamed Wang told CGTN that he had not received monthly rental payments from Danke for the last two months. ‘Danke’s staff told me to contact the company for solutions,’ he said, adding, ‘The staff said the company has delayed payment of their salaries as well.'”

“The issue has led many to question Danke’s aggressive expansion policy based on credit. Instead of renting out these flats at a premium like some of its competitors do, Danke often issues discounts to win tenants. But no lunches are free. The company reported a net loss of 1,234.4 million yuan ($174.3 million) for the first quarter of this year, compared with a loss of 816.2 million yuan in the same period of 2019.”

‘The claims of unexplained anomalies by Wayne County, Michigan, election board canvassers are validated by one renowned election fraud experts who states, definitively, that Michigan’s election results – across the state and not just in Wayne County – are a “physical impossibility.”

‘The examination of the Michigan voter data was performed by Russell Ramsland, the co-owner of Allied Security Operations Group (ASOG). His company specializes in detecting election fraud, cybersecurity, open source intelligence and global security services. Ramsland served in the Reagan administration and has worked for both NASA and MIT.’

‘In the affidavit concerning the election in Michigan, Ramsland determined – without question – that vote fraud and ballot tampering took place in the 2020 General Election in Michigan determining the results as they are currently known to be a “physical impossibility.”

‘In addressing the Dominion Voting System, Ramsland was critical of its security over-all citing “vulnerabilities to hacking and tampering, both at the front end where Americans cast their votes, and at the back end where the votes are stored, tabulated, and reported.”

‘Ramsland noted that the vulnerabilities described are well-known by experts in the voting securing field and that these vulnerabilities have been extensively written about. “My colleagues and I… have studied… the November 3, 2020, election results. Based on the significant anomalies and red flags that we have observed, we believe there is a significant probability that election results have been manipulated…” Ramsland wrote.’

‘His colleague, Dr. Andrew Appel, a professor of computer science at Princeton University and an election security expert, said, “I figured out how to make a slightly different computer program that just before the polls were closed it switches some votes around from one candidate to another. I wrote that computer program into a memory chip and now to hack a voting machine you need just 7 minutes alone with it and a screw driver.”

‘In an interview with the Fox Business Channel, Giuliani, in his capacity as lawyer of reelectionist US President Donald Trump, claimed that the Smartmatic vote-counting machines were “hackable.”

‘He said Dominion, the company that provided the automated vote-counting system used during the most recent presidential election, was owned by Smartmatic through an intermediary company referred to as Indra.’

‘He claimed that the Smartmatic vote-counting machine was basically developed and designed to commit fraud in the process of vote-counting, particularly for the Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez.’

‘He claimed that Smartmatic had been behind the electoral frauds in many countries, without actually mentioning the Philippines, which has been using its system for over a decade.’

‘Giuliani also hinted about the origins of the Dominion- Voting System and the company’s alleged connection with Smartmatic, one of the most questioned automated voting companies, primarily because of the affiliation of the people behind the company to Chávez.’

‘He accused Smartmatic of manipulating the recent US presidential election in key US states, adding that its Dominion Voting System was using machines designed to allow human intervention.’

‘He said Smartmatic was founded by three Venezuelans who were very close to the dictator Hugo Chávez back in 2003, adding that the company was formed to fix elections. “That’s the company that owns Dominion. Dominion is a Canadian company, but all its software is from Smartmatic,” Giuliani was quoted during the interview.’

So when senator running dear and 4 other senators/lawmakers said Dominion was a election fraud disaster, was that bizarre?

          “Dominion-izing the Vote”

This video is about 30 minutes and has two long commercials (kinda) that you can skip. But it starts to drill down into substance. They have a computer guy who knows his stuff: says the ability to manipulate votes was a “feature, not a bug.” They also explore the Dominion “security” expert who was a rabid antifa nut, boasted of “making sure” the President wasn’t going to be re-elected, and had several unhinge TDS social media posts that were saved.

          1. ‘A Republican poll observer from Pennsylvania’s Delaware County, told a Senate GOP Policy Committee hearing in Gettysburg on Wednesday, that he witnessed a range of Election Day irregularities, including 47 USB cards that went missing.’

‘Greg Stenstrom, who, besides being a poll watcher, said he is an expert in security fraud, told the hearing that he witnessed a number of chain-of-custody violations, including around mail-in ballots, the balance of votes from drop boxes, and the handling of USB card flash drives—all of which he said broke rules defined by the Delaware County Board of Elections and the election process review.’

“They didn’t follow one,” Stenstrom said. “It shocked me that this could happen,” he added.’

‘He described witnessing a situation in which data on USB cards was uploaded to voting machines by a warehouse superviser without being observed by a poll watcher, which he said he saw happening at least 24 times.’

“He’s walking in with baggies, which we have pictures of and that were submitted in our affidavits,” Stenstrom said, adding that Democrat poll watchers also witnessed this occurrence.’

‘Stenstrom said he was told by an attorney that it’s normal for several USB cards to be left in machines and then brought back by the warehouse manager for input into tally systems. He added that when he later raised the issue with U.S. Attorney General William McSwain and some law enforcement officers, he was told it is unusual for more than two drives to be left in voting machines.

He said he was later told that “these 24 to 30 cards that were uploaded” were unaccounted for, adding that “as of today, 47 USB v-cards are missing.”

“People ask me all the time, how do people commit crimes? I know there’s a lot of theories here. And I always look for the simplest thing. People that stuff…stick USB sticks in, putting ballots in—a very simple thing. Only takes a couple of people, doesn’t take a big conspiracy,” he said.

“As a forensic computer scientist, my interest is in the data—where did it go? Where did the spoilage go? How did the data come in and go out of the system?” he said, and called for an audit.’

‘Stenstrom also said that it recently emerged that “virtually all chain of custody logs, records, yellow sheets, everything was gone” in Delaware County.’

“They had a signing party where they sat down, and coworkers were invited back to recreate those logs,” he said. “And our understanding as of today was that they were unsuccessful in getting them all.”

‘He said the situation is that there are up to 120,000 ballots that remain “in question.”

“There’s no cure for this, no remedy for this,” he said, adding, “I don’t believe, as a citizen and an observer to this, that anybody could certify that vote in good conscience.”

‘At the same hearing, President Donald Trump’s attorney Rudy Giuliani said that the type of election irregularities witnesses described in Pennsylvania also occurred in other battleground states.’

“What we’re going to describe to you, with these witnesses, happened in roughly the same way in Michigan, Wisconsin, Nevada, and Georgia—the primary device was mail-in ballots,” Giuliani said, characterizing the election in Pennsylvania as a “sham.”

“We don’t want to disenfranchise anyone. We want to disqualify 672,000 votes so 72 million people are not disenfranchised, because that’s what happened by the cheating that went on here,” Giuliani said.’

‘The former data and strategy director for President Donald Trump’s 2016 election campaign says he has found enough evidence to suggest the election results could be “easily” turned to favor the current president. One of Braynard’s biggest findings involved voters who had submitted a National Change of Address form to the post office, indicating they had moved out of state, yet appeared to have voted in 2020 in the state they moved from.’

‘In Georgia, the team found 138,221 such people, which represents a much larger number than the state’s current vote differential (12,670) in the presidential race. In Michigan, there were 51,302 such people; Wisconsin had 26,673, Nevada had 27,271, Arizona had 19,997, and Pennsylvania had 13,671. “The number of questionable ballots surpasses the vote margin in at least three states right now—Arizona, Georgia, and Wisconsin,” Braynard told The Epoch Times on Nov. 25. Those three states have a combined total of 37 electoral votes. “This isn’t speculative. This is just what the data shows.”

          4. submitted a National Change of Address form to the post office, indicating they had moved out of state, yet appeared to have voted in 2020 in the state they moved from.’

The TDS b@st@rds in the comment sections on YouTbue keep saying BS like “show us the proof,” — no doubt a parroted talking point. I hope that the Trump team tracked this down about the change-of address. Did those people vote again in their new state? Can they track down the records of exactly when those people moved (new job? Signed a lease? ) to prove they were residents of the new state when they voted in the old state?

If this is true, this is darn near a smoking gun. This is a real paper trail of evidence, not just he-said she-said affidavits. And it looks like there are enough of these duplicate ballots to bring down three states. Add in the PA voting machines, and suddenly things will get very interesting.

          5. 37 electoral votes

Biden currently “has” 303 electoral votes. Subtract that 37 and suddenly he’s at 269. Uh-oh. Question, is the Biden camp assembling some kind of counter-sue or defense team? Or are they so sure of themselves that they aren’t bothering? Because, if Trump actually pulls this off, Biden won’t have time to fight back. That’s the same mistake they made in 2016.

          6. Taking care of business for the US right there.

            Clinton hack Gorelick gone too.

How many tens of millions did these hacks steer to their families and business acquantances?

          7. 269

Check that. 303-37 is 266. From those potential duplicate ballots alone, Trump might not even need Pennsylvania…

          8. “The majority inspector threatened to slap me in the face,” said Olivia Jane Winters, a registered Democrat and minority ballot inspector in Pennsylvania, testifying to Pennsylvania State Republicans Wednesday that she had been threatened and harassed by other election officials after she asked about suspicious activities during the 2020 election.’

What’s shocking is that the whole corrupt system is stacked against honest election observers and officials, so that they can be threatened and intimidated with impunity. Our national descent into banana republic is complete.

F**k you, Democrats, and f**k you too, spineless GOPe corporate stooges.

          9. ‘Pennsylvania State Senator Doug Mastriano, a Republican, said Friday that the GOP-controlled state legislature will make a bid to reclaim its power to appoint the state’s electors to the Electoral College, saying they could start the process on Monday, Nov. 30.’

‘Mastriano told War Room that he has been in communication with Republican Pennsylvania House and Senate members to reclaim their constitutional authority from the secretary of state’s office. The reason why, he said, is due to a hearing in Gettysburg with GOP state senators that heard witness testimony from poll watchers and others who alleged there were significant irregularities and fraud during the presidential election.’

‘He said that about half of the state GOP House and Senate leaders and legislators support the move to reclaim their constitutional authority. Both the State House and Senate are controlled by Republicans.’

“So, we’re gonna do a resolution between the House and Senate, hopefully today,” he told Steve Bannon’s War Room on Friday. I’ve spent two hours online trying to coordinate this with my colleagues. And there’s a lot of good people working this here. Saying, that the resolution saying we’re going to take our power back. We’re gonna seat the electors. Now obviously we’re gonna need the support of the leadership of the House and Senate, we’re getting there on that.”

‘It’s necessary, he argued, because there is “so much evidence of shenanigans and fraud, we can’t stand aside and just watch this unfold around us.” Elaborating, he said, “If there’s extensive shenanigans out there it’s up to the General Assembly to step in. So we have a fight on our hands and we’re gonna fight. We’re gonna take the fight all the way to the Supreme Court if we have to.”

Fact check: Stalin likely didn’t say quote about ‘those who count the votes decide everything’

      Mariah Timms
      USA TODAY
      Nov 10, 2020

One post, an image of former Soviet leader Joseph Stalin with text added, appears to attribute a quip about vote counting to the dictator.

“Those who cast the votes decide nothing. Those who count the votes decide everything,” the post says, attributing it to “Communist Tyrant and mass murderer Josef Stalin.”

But experts say there’s no evidence Stalin ever uttered the words.

“All I can say is, I’ve never seen it,” Vanderbilt University history professor Thomas Schwartz said. “This does not sound like a Stalin quote. I took a look at some quotes from him. It doesn’t

          – The U.S.A. has a long history of personal freedoms and liberties as guaranteed by the Constitution and the Separation of Powers via the Three Branches of government and Checks and Balances. We now appear to be going down a darker path. It’s a slippery slope. A cornerstone of our Constitutional Republic is free and fair elections. If that goes, then I think the entire system can unravel pretty quickly. Going, going, gone?

Excess mortality in the Soviet Union under Joseph Stalin
          From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

“Estimates of the number of deaths attributable to the Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin vary widely. Some scholars assert that record-keeping of the executions of political prisoners and ethnic minorities are neither reliable nor complete[1] while others contend that archival materials declassified in 1991 contain irrefutable data far superior to sources used prior to 1991 such as statements from emigres and other informants.[2][3]”

Prior to the dissolution of the Soviet Union and the archival revelations, some historians estimated that the numbers killed by Stalin’s regime were 20 million or higher.[4][5][6] After the USSR dissolved, evidence from the Soviet archives was declassified and researchers were allowed to study it. This contained official records of 799,455 executions (1921–1953),[7] around 1.7 million deaths in the Gulag,[8][9] some 390,000[10] deaths during the dekulakization forced resettlement, and up to 400,000 deaths of persons deported during the 1940s[11] – with a total of about 3.3 million officially recorded victims in these categories.[12] The deaths of at least 5.5 to 6.5 million[13] persons in the famine of 1932–33 are sometimes, but not always,[2][14] included with the victims of the Stalin era.

“Those who cast the votes decide nothing. Those who count the votes decide everything,” the post says, attributing it to “Communist Tyrant and mass murderer Josef Stalin.”

          – Stalin certainly could have said it as the statement is consistent with his sociopathic character.

        2. Good grief. That USA Today article ignores its own links. From the politifact link:

          >> Begin Quote

In memoirs written after his retirement, Boris Bazhanov, Stalin’s former personal secretary, claimed that Stalin said: “Я считаю, что совершенно неважно, кто и как будет в партии голосовать; но вот что чрезвычайно важно, это кто и как будет считать голоса.” It translates to: “I regard it as completely unimportant who in the party will vote and how, but it is extremely important who will count the votes and how.”

          >> End Quote

Not saying that’s conclusive evidence, but it certainly is evidence.

      2. As with the Stalin quote, it’s easy to see where the Real Journalists run when they need an “experts” opinion.

Experts see ‘deep trouble’ for Trump overcoming plummet in the polls

“I’d be very, very worried” if I were the president, said Thomas Schwartz, a history professor at Vanderbilt University. “His poll numbers are bad, very worrisome, especially in places like Georgia and Texas.”

        https://missoulacurrent.com/government/2020/07/trump-plummet-polls/?print=print

      3. Fact check: Stalin likely didn’t say quote about ‘those who count the votes decide everything’

        Mariah Timms

The fact that the media is trying to refute this quote speaks volumes. They know the premise is true and they are complicit, regardless of who the quote is attributed to.

“The lady doth protest too much, methinks.”

        ~William Shakespeare

        1. Yup, and they know it. If a tree falls in the forest but Stalin didn’t hear it, did the tree still kill the guy in the tent? DUH.

      4. But experts say there’s no evidence Stalin ever uttered the words.

However, what is indisputable is that when Stalin was informed of the German invasion on June 22nd, 1941, his first words to the Stavka – the Soviet supreme military command – was “Realtors are liars.”

  2. ‘a Beverly Hills mansion initially listed for $100 million has sold at less than half that price…Before heading to prison for her part in the 2019 college scandal, actress Lori Loughlin sold her Bel Air mansion for $18.75 million, a nearly 50% drop from the $35 million she originally sought. Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi asked $40 million for their Montecito home that sold for $33.3 million. Travis Kalanick purchased his $43 million Bel Air mansion at a 42% price cut this year. A sprawling home built by Bruce Makowsky sold last year for $94 million — a 62% discount to its $250 million asking price’

    Yeah, there’s no bubble.

    1. A sprawling home built by Bruce Makowsky sold last year for $94 million — a 62% discount to its $250 million asking price’

Come back, REIC troll who assured the HBB a 50% price drop was “completely unrealistic.” All is forgiven – we just want to hear more of your housing market predictions.

    2. “Before heading to prison for her part in the 2019 college scandal, actress Lori Loughlin sold her Bel Air mansion for $18.75 million, a nearly 50% drop from the $35 million she originally sought.”

Terminated by the Hallmark Channel, huge housing equity loss, no Stanford University for the kids, serving prison time, etc., gotta wonder what Lori did in her last life?

  3. ‘It’s a buyers market out there at the moment due to the pandemic, which is bad news for homeowners’

Everything is falling cuz of the CCP virus? Cape Town prices have been sinking like a turd in a well for years.

  4. ‘That is the fate facing thousands of Britons who, often for no fault of their own, could begin 2021 as ‘subprime’ borrowers if they have had more than six months’ of relief from COVID-19 debt woes…The hit means she can no longer borrow at rates she considers fair or affordable. ‘Unless you are extremely wealthy, you’re only ever one or two months away from debt’

You stopped paying the mortgage Julia, what did you think was going to happen?

    1. If Julia couldn’t pay her mortgage, then she must have lost her job. If she lost her job, it will likely be another year before she’s back on her feat. I wouldn’t lend her money either.

  5. ‘Wang told CGTN that he had not received monthly rental payments from Danke for the last two months. ‘Danke’s staff told me to contact the company for solutions…The staff said the company has delayed payment of their salaries as well’

They aren’t paying the people who answer the phones? Well that makes everything better, right Wang?

  6. If Deron Williams asked a $billion for that penthouse, it would have been an even bigger price cut.

“Williams paid $15.8 million for the glam pad in 2013 and then made a splash, listing it for $33.5 million in 2015. It closed for $16.4 million, according to city records.”

What was he thinking? He got a damn good price, all things considered.

  7. Paypal is on the fritz, doesn’t acknowledge Captcha, won’t send a 2FA code to my phone. They really need to include an TOTP Authentication schema as an access option. 🙁

I’m so sick of their sh*t.

“B-b-but Twitter is a private platform.”

“OK, we’ll all go to another private platform.”

“B-b-but no you can’t go somewhere we can’t censor you!”

    1. Legacy (globalist captured) media is going to start to panic if alternative media outlets and citizen journalists benefit from a mass exodus of people seeking unfiltered news and information.

    How’s the US economy?

In short, the K-shaped recovery is getting worse.

    – Dow over 30,000 (up 62% since March 23)
    – Booming home sales

    Meanwhile:
    – 26 million going hungry
    – 20.5 million on unemployment
    – Rising jobless claims

    – “The cognitive dissonance is strong with this one.” (paraphrased)

    1. Some folks are predicting a 20% fall in the dollar in 2021. With an imports dependent economy, it seems like inflation could be on the way.

    2. This sounds like a recipe for deliberate inflation creation.

Analysis: Negative rate risk, QE overload may push central banks towards yield caps
      By Dhara Ranasinghe

LONDON (Reuters) – Central banks are delving further into their tool kits to help economies recover from the coronavirus – cue yield curve control, a form of pinning down borrowing costs that more countries might need to embrace in the months and years ahead.
FILE PHOTO: Federal Reserve Board building on Constitution Avenue is pictured in Washington, U.S., March 19, 2019. REUTERS/Leah Millis/

Because government bond yields are used as reference rates for business and consumer lending, controlling them can influence the price of credit in the broader economy.

Of course, all major central banks are already holding down yields, via 0% or sub-zero interest rates and aggressive bond buying (QE). But explicit yield curve control (YCC) involves imposing a cap on part of the curve – say five years – then defending that by buying bonds of that maturity when needed.

Proponents increasingly believe this is the path central banks will adopt in order to anchor borrowing costs for governments, particularly those such as the Federal Reserve and Bank of England which are not keen on negative interest rates.

“If yields spiral higher, we would actually expect to see central banks step back in and control the bond market, whether through more bond buying or yield curve control,” said Craig Inches, head of rates and cash at Royal London Asset Management (RLAM).

      1. Central banks are delving further into their tool kits to help economies recover

Their idea of a “recovery” is sick and twisted. It’s injury – repetitive injury – that they specialize in.

    1. “Allman Brothers — Southbound:”

That song is as good as the turkey, salt and pepper, stuffing, cranberry and mayo on the bread sandwich I had for dinner tonight and the turkey, salt and pepper, stuffing, cranberry and mayo on the bread sandwich I had for dinner tonight was pretty damn good. 🙂

      1. I like a can of Dinty Moore beef stew on two slices of grilled texas toast…. with the salt and pepper of course.

        1. I’m going to stuff my face for the third day in a row with turkey.
I would like to think that these criminals that rigged the election are going to get caught. I can’t even watch that treasonous Biden calling himself the President elect. They were so cocky about him winning with the fake polls which was odd in itself.
Of course they were going to rig the election. That treasonous Biden didn’t even campaign or answer questions. What a joke.
